On Currents, everything falls perfectly into place. Kevin Parker tackles topics such as self doubt, regret, guilt, and heartbreak in such an brilliant ways, all with the backdrop of some of the most refined psychedelic production I have ever heard. Serious emphasis on the last part. The production is literally out of this world and into another dimension. I haven’t even mentioned Kevin’s gorgeous voice. Also, the fact that everything you hear was done by just him, is incredible. For ... read more
As this album puts across, love is worth it no matter what, and to me, that includes loving this album. Depeche Mode manages to make such a memorable connection to the listener with one of the most interesting and frankly, jaw dropping soundscape I have ever heard. The soundscape being comprised of dark, sharp, and heavenly production with genuinely sweet lyricism. Violator is simply incredible. Also, as a side note, I also think that new wave style of singing works incredibly well here. One of ... read more
Wow, while she didn’t before, I can say Mitski has finally clicked for me. The booming, haunting sound of this album leaves you feeling awestruck. Mitski's beautifully commanding voice alongside those heavenly strings and drums is just a recipe for success. I really, really mean it when I call this album amazing. The writing, vocals, and even with the occasionally spotty mixing, the production is outstanding. I had no idea what was coming when I hit play, but this album exceeded any ... read more
Nas and Hit mesh together incredibly well on Magic. I would say almost as well as they ever have. They are just so consistent. Actually, Magic in general is just incredibly tight and consistent. Nothing stands out as something that shouldn't've been here. Sure, Magic isn’t mind-blowing, but Nas straight up spits, and Hitboy provides some incredible beats. Nas speaks to you like an old geezer sitting on his lavish front porch, and it’s awesome. I do think there was room for more, but ... read more
I do prefer the cold blooded soul and regular versions of the Melt tracks, though, that doesn't mean these versions aren't great. Also, the additional tracks here are absolutely fantastic. I would really love to hear Denzel like this more often.
Best Tracks: Lonely Man - Live At Electric Lady, Didn't Cha Know - Live At Electric Lady, Endtroduction - Live At Electric Lady
Weakest Track: Troubles - Live At Electric Lady
An amazing hodgepodge of different sounds by the incredibly consistent Denzel Curry. While this album is a melting pot of sounds, it stays consistent and manages to stay connected, which makes the tracks almost seem to seamlessly flow together. I feel like Denzel and his sound has matured so much into something so amazing. Also, the commentary about people's tendency to avoid difficult topics and the general concept is executed so well, and dare I say better and more consistently than TA13OO ... read more
Vince Staples's self titled is a chill, reflective, relatively safe album, and honestly I'm here for that. The chill production along with Vince's laxed delivery really sells me on the sound. I do think that the narrative running around Vince's early days isn't exactly new, but it still is executed pretty well. I know this sounds parasocial, but I often find myself reflecting alongside the album, like how you would chat to your friend about your lives. Sure, I would have liked more innovation ... read more
Garden of Delete is a dark, intoxicating, electronic aneurysm. It's beautiful. The instant I finished Ezra, I knew I was listening to something out of this world. It all feels just dark and beautiful at the same time, like a rose with it’s thorns. I personally think this album sonically details the chaos of life, but you can interpret it any way you see fit. It's perfect in that sense. Actually, I think it's perfect in every sense. This album just shoves your head underwater just to pull ... read more
I highly recommend seeing Orion Sun live, because she was amazing, and this album is pretty great too. It's not the most innovative album I've ever heard, but that really doesn't detract from it's overall quality. The sound and lyricism is so intimate, as it feels like Orion is sharing her deepest current feelings and thoughts, with soothing and simplistic production alongside lyricism of varying depth. That is the concept of the album. A Collection of Fleeting Moments and Daydreams is about ... read more
Maybe not lyrically impressive in any way, but holy Tame Impala these synths are huge. The production is great, and it's mixed pretty well. It just needed some touching up, mostly with the lyrics. An interesting find for sure.
I wish it was longer to be honest. Montell fits the sound perfectly, and the sound of the song just melts in your ears. However, it is just too short. I also think the monologue was a bit unnecessary. Also, as a weird side note, I just noticed that Lil Yachty and Montell are 2/2 on collabing with the same people. That's a weird coincidence.
This EP is weird, because it has two absolutely amazing songs which give off this sense of reflective beauty, and then you have two absolutely mind-numbingly forgettable songs. Having Alex G over the soft guitars on Babylon was a brilliant decision, and Love In The Time Of Lexapro felt like being submerged in another dimension. It's a shame the other two tracks are just so nothing. Though, I still recommend the listen purely for the first and last track.

I really like the glitchy and hazy beat. It's not as fun as the other singles, but it's still pretty decent.
Is it weird that these kind of grew on me? They are just so much fun in the best way. Also, the production is just hard.
Jazzy, slick, and surprisingly mature, learn 2 swim is certainly memorable in the ocean that is the music industry (sea what I did there?). I think this album's biggest strength is that it plays into it's sound really well, redveil just floats over that smooth production full of soul. I also think this album is just really consistent, yes, there isn't anything mind-blowing or incredibly innovative on display, but barring like 1 or 2 songs, it's just plain great throughout it's whole duration. ... read more
