Ok, redux, because I have softened on this album if I’m being honest. Sure, the bad songs are still atrocious in my opinion, but songs that I previously didn't care for like Stranger and Impossible have grown on me tons. This album is wildly inconsistent, but it's kind of fun for that. It's just random shit, and vaguely, it works, however vaguely that may be. I think that I initially way overblew how bad this was. This album is just so unique and creative, and it's such a breathe of fresh ... read more
I have so much to say about this album and yet, I can't really find the words for it. I really like many things about it, and dislike others. I guess I'll start of by saying how well executed the sound of this album is. The grimy, industrial sound really suits the cathartic lyricism. Every tracks ties together pretty damn well. I especially like it when the album goes into a more echoey and punchy sound like on the track Honesty with that groovy and grimy beat. However, a great sound does not ... read more
Such an amazing album. The dark, etherial ambience of Replica grips your ears and doesn’t let go. Oneohtrix Point Never knows how to build an atmosphere. The sound of Replica is so grim and perfect. Although, I have no idea where to start when trying to decipher the meaning of this album, besides the fact that it makes me feel a whole range of emotions from being creeped out to tranquil. I think that’s part of the beauty. Also, as a side note, the use of sampling is incredible on ... read more
While it certainly isn't that unique, Vince and all the features glide effortlessly over the track.
I think this was the stepping stone Daniel Caesar needed to really grow as an artist. This is a pretty good EP all things considered. Daniel's voice even on his first project is majestic, and the production has a nice, breezy soul to it. The whole EP sounds like a hot, breezy summer biking around the neighborhood. To be frank though, the production is weak at points, and the mixing is not as great as any of Daniel's other projects. I also don't really come back to this EP as often as his other ... read more
This is Montell's best work yet. He brought his A-game with his raw and rich vocals alongside some beautifully dark and moody instrumentals. Sure, there's room for improvement, but as long as Montell continues to innovate and reach further artistic heights like he did with this release, he'll do more than just fine. Overall, Her Love Still Haunts Me Like a Ghost is a pretty fantastic EP with such a immersive sound and atmosphere.

There is so much going on that I didn't catch until much later on. I just think most of the experience is missed if you're not watching the music video. Part of me wishes Donald included the audio from the music video.
I think it's fine, but it could have been so much better if the whole song was like that last bit. This is probably my least favorite Frank Ocean song.
This album is pure brilliance. It’s long, but holy shit is it worth listening to. It’s so unfair that JID can rap incredibly and have a beautiful voice. The storytelling on this record paints a clear picture in your mind of JID reflecting on his success and the struggles he and much of black America have had and still face. If you have the time, please listen to this example of pure artistry. Songs like Crack Sandwich literally blew my expectations away into another dimension. ... read more
A meticulously crafted euphoric and religious experience through and through. I do not fully understand it nor can I decipher it, but R Plus Seven is just plain beautiful. The instrumentation and layers of harmony touches my very core. I wouldn’t say this is an album to listen to with the sunroof down with your friends, but when you do listen to it, it takes you on a journey to every corner of the heart and soul. Emotions never felt will be felt during this listening experience. Go listen ... read more
These b-sides are better than some artists whole discography. Sure, untitled unmastered is a bit more imperfect and rough around the edges than the literally perfect TPAB, but it’s still pretty damn good. Even though this is TPAB throwaways, untitled unmastered still holds enough of it’s own sound and identity different enough that it feels like a fully fledged project. That in of itself is amazing. Everything you can expect from Kendrick is here, even if it is more unrefined than ... read more
