I don't know how to feel about this album. It is good and has a phenomial production to its sounds but its content just feels a little bit dry or otherwise flat finished product. There are some pretty good standouts but as a whole this album is good but nothing much more.
The promotion and the virility of this album was incredible and an marketing masterclass, but to sit down and listen to this objectively, again, its nothing mind blowing, nothing I haven't already heard done more to ... read more
A Fantastic return, growing up listening to Bands like Pendulum and The Prodigy definitely leaves me with some biases but i'm so glad as I've thrown myself heavily down the modern metalcore, alternative and progressive metal rabbit holes, so too has Pendulum grown with me on my musical journey as Inertia takes on more of a metal bias/ focus which is perfect for me and my tastes.
One of my favourite Pendulum tracks was a featured version of Crush with the legendary Devin Townsend was ... read more
A fantastic, catchy, creative endeavour worth all the praise it deserves. Clem & co have been consistently writing fantastic music and I've been lucky enough to know and support the band since their first ever song released thanks to a well placed advert introducing me to this incredibly talented group.
Musically, electronically and vocally this album is incredibly rich, tastefully produced and in line with other incredible talents breaking out of France onto an international stage, ... read more
One of the best albums produced I've been listening to this album for years and the songs consistently sneak back into my main rotation because sometimes when you crave some Michelin starred metalcore, you play Thornhill's The Dark Pool.
Vibrant, crushing, a sonic masterpiece. This track listing is the equivalent of footballs world XI or boxings HOF. I could go in depth on each song and its never ending list of positives but to simply put like this. Please do yourself a service and ... read more
Genuinely one of the best works i've ever listened to.
This isn't a case of glaze or bias, its a flag planting statement to a genre so diverse, rapidly developing but stagnant (yes I know this is a bit of an Oxymoron)
To explain, as we're in what looks to be a renaissance of modern metal and new nü metal, a lot of the largest and modern bands have started a type of audio homologation off the backs of such incredible successes. Vianova tears up the rulebook and throws it ... read more
Crazy, eccentric, wonderfully experimental, a little bit too much at times and paced like a one legged sprinter. Fantastic in every way if your favourite pass time is horror game jump scares or trying to kill off classical music enjoyers in what I could imagine giving Fent to Clown core, or Salvia to Gojira.
I would rate this higher but with my lean to certain songs proving my lack of replay ability for others I couldn't give it any higher as much as I do genuinely love their work. A Big ... read more
Was this album really needed? this whole concept of eras, sounds and outfits made more sense prior to this album as this just feels vapid, soulless, out of touch and the definition of 'I'm not like other girls, I listen to Taylor Swift'.
Swift does have some good songs but nothing on this follows under that, I was never a fan of Tortured Poets Society, at least that had a couple of good songs. The lyrical content ranges from atrocious to forgettable to laughably out of touch. ... read more
Improving on TMBTE is no small feat, I was somewhat confident that they wouldn't be able to sustain a level of creativity and musical diversification but I could not be happier to be so wrong.
To preface, I don't care the populist Imagine Dragon'ification' of the fan base, where there's large groups of people hating on it for the sake of it, no band is beyond criticism, this album isn't perfect, but to be so reductive to say 'Nah this ain't it' or ... read more
Sometimes just a good knuckle dragging hardcore riff is all you need to solve anything going on in life. Some of the catchiest, stupidly heavy crowd killing riffs are in this album. 'Darwinisms' opener of 'Motherfucker bang your fucking head' or 'Antpile2' sole lyric of 'Two' are brutal in production and incredible in reception after I was lucky enough to see them live.
the sign of a good Hardcore band is that if this music was shown to a small victorian ... read more
There's a million different albums I need to catch up and review as my main style of music in preference is modern metal and I listen to literally everything as I'm only ever one song from discovering something incredible. Incredible, this album is the furthest thing from it.
Can I genuinely give any compliments to this album. 'The beat on 'I Sell'' is mostly listenable (until its cannonballed with incoherent yapping)
I cannot begin to explain the will and ... read more
When I first listened to this on release date I would have given it a solid 12 out of 100 but as I spend more time with this album the more I love it. there are parts I wouldn't consciously listen to but exploring a new country with your own weird personal soundtrack this is fantastic for the job (even if that is my lack of attention span talking).
This suffers from an overall package that I cannot tell if tonnes of time or no time at all was put into it, like the title of ' Music ... read more
I don't fully understand the lower ratings. Personally to me this album is fantastic.
It wears its influences on its sleeve and presents them in both contemporary and unique ways throughout the 12 tracks on show. Shame is a fantastic track opener with lofi metallic percussion, heavy breathing build with the harsh vocal stabs setting a great opening tone. From a great intro track straight into 'In The Dark' which is a fun, catchy, bouncy take on the 2010's almost nostalgic ... read more
Why? like in a literal, non ironic, completely serious question. Why does this exist and why (like the St Anger snare) didn't someone talk Metallica or Lou Reed out of this incredibly prolonged car crash.
This is like watching a car crash but the only thing that crashed was the software, bricking the car, crashing into absolute mediocrity at a level of watching competitive tectonic plate racing. The only reason this got a 10 and not a zero is for the cult following of 'I Am The ... read more
For a band I was utterly infatuated from the get go with the popular indoctrination from Adam Copelands 'Edge' intro from WWE, 'Alter Bridge' have always had a massive soft spot in my taste in music with this band being group who kickstarted my adoration for metal music.
From turning up in pop culture to Myles Kennedy being the frontman for the S(ft)MKC outfit, its safe to say that I've always appreciated their albums since I first started listening to them over 10 ... read more
Does this album get so much hate due to the cult of personality that is' Ronnie Radke'? yes.
Is that hate warranted based on the person. Partially yes.
Has 'Ronnie Radke' done some very stupid things in his time as personality at 'FIR'. Yes
This album is neither groundbreaking or revolutionary in sounds as it pulls inspiration from all over pop, rap and previous sounds in metal but does a decent job of combining them. When 'Popular Monster' the song ... read more
Must hear with a good reason.
you want an album that can unify most people from most tastes of music, 'The Prodigy' have been doing it for decades and even after the tragic passing of legend of the scene 'Keith Flint' even to this day 'The Prodigy' still stands as flag bearers, not just of any particular genre but for music itself. If I need to recommend a fantastic album accessible to pretty much everyones music taste, again, 'The Fat Of The Land' is ... read more
It's such a fun warm creative Jewel in the crown of the 'Heavy Pop' Genre. 'The Crucible of Life' is the life and party of the rock genre, equal parts funky, head bopping, vibrant smirk inducing. You can't help but move to this album.
Holding down a great upbeat pace with every song holding a fantastic catchy aspect, ear-worms throughout with a fantastic vocal delivery from 'Brian Butcher' the personification of the term 'Aura', if you ... read more
I've never seen the failed aspect of an early access game, poorly ported by failed critically acclaimed artist, further failing to release music of any substance. Made even more depressing that the best part of the album is the intro before the lack lustre, blown out 'we ain't making it out of the hood type beat', how can your 808's be so blown out after you fixed it? The best compliment I can offer this album is that it makes me like 'Vultures 1' a little bit ... read more
A fantastic example of genre blending, summer hit modern metalcore.
I don't really understand the user negativity on this album, other than people wanting more of the 'Love Language' sound. Though an incredible album, 'Hyperviolence' operates in its on incredible space. Songs like 'Break The Rules' and 'Tabula Rosa' carry an incredible pace and tone, two standouts in an album of fantastic works.
Vertigo and Haunting me are to other songs that ... read more
I had high hopes for the follow up to the follow up to 2023's 'IYKYK', an EP on near constant rotation for myself.
'I Hope You Hate It' is pretty good in parts but suffers from some Mediocre writing and production choices as it leaves me struggling to remember much of what I heard after listening to it This is in no way bad music and could even be a preference sonically but unfortunately not for myself.
Where the band shines and personally what I like most from the ... read more
