Foxygen - ...And Star Power
50

Wow. What an incredibly disappointing album. I was already aware of this album’s mixed reviews, but I figured there would be at least something in here that I could pick out and enjoy. When there was a glimpse of a great idea, it was ruined almost immediately with what followed it.

Tame Impala - Currents
90

This is simply an amazing album. 'The Less I Know The Better' was my first introduction to Kevin Parker and throughout this year I have been anticipating finally getting to listen to this album from front to back. In March, I decided that I would finally go through all 3 of Tame Impala's albums, slowly. I wanted to let each album have time to digest before moving on to the next one. This album is borderline perfect. Any issue I have with the album is in reality very minuscule.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Oddments

This is definitely the oddest of the Gizz records I've listened to so far. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be listening all the way through again.

Favorite song: Work This Time

Favorite songs: Tasmania, Burn Out Star, Selené

Clairo - Immunity
73

Clairo's debut album is a complete stylistic change from her previous work, and I think that it actually fits her quite well. I just think that a lot of the songs on this album fell just a little bit short of what could have been a great song. Nothing on this album was really horrible, but it was just a lot of average and above-average songs. With that being said, I still look forward to what comes next for Clairo.

Favorite songs: Bags, Softly

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Fishing for Fishies
77

Fishing For Fishies is yet another example to show how this band can basically pull off any sound they want and do it very well. While I haven't found myself enjoying this album as much as I have with their others, I still admire the production and the catchy melodies that are found throughout the album.

Favorite song: Real's Not Real

Chance the Rapper - The Big Day
NR

I only made it to track 5 before I had to stop. I was absolutely bored out of my mind. I will try coming back to listen to the rest of this album at some point. I can't imagine giving it a very high score at the end of it.

Tame Impala - Lonerism
84

While Lonerism had a grander idea/message behind it when compared to InnerSpeaker, there's something about this album that I just find difficult to make it through all the way in a single listen. Almost all of the songs on this album are spectacular, but the few that hold it back are really jarring when listening to the album. Even with that being said, the concept behind the album is felt throughout and I think that it was a great follow up album to InnerSpeaker.

Tame Impala's debut album is a great introduction to Kevin's musical talents. It takes the listener on a journey from start to finish, whether or not aided by drugs. Good album!

Favorite songs: Lucidity, Solitude is Bliss, Expectation

Lil Nas X - 7
73

I wasn't the biggest fan of OTR or its remix, but I can't lie, this EP is just a lot of fun. I think that it's very evident in the songs here that Lil Nas X had a lot of fun making this EP.

So basically, if I could rate this album fun/10, I would.

Favorite song: Panini

It was fun at times, but I really just wanted it to end. Money Machine was the only song that I might come back to listen to at some point. But I will never listen to this whole album again.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Paper Mâché Dream Balloon

This is such a fun album. The melodies on every single song get stuck in my head so easily.

Favorite songs: Sense, Most of What I Like, Bone, Dirt

Fickle Friends - You Are Someone Else

This album is very good. Every single song on this album has infinite replay value for me.

Favorite songs: Brooklyn, Hard To Be Myself, Heartbroken

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR

This is a really great album. I can tell that Tyler poured everything he had into it. It grows on me the more and more I listen to it.

Favorite songs: 'What's Good', 'A Boy Is A Gun', Earfquake

Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride
86

Might be hard for anyone to actually believe this, but this was my first Vampire Weekend album. Going into this record I had listened to the singles and I was mostly unimpressed, with the exception of This Life. However, with the album I came away with a completely different view. Almost every single song on this album has managed to get stuck in my head. Even after the multiple listens I'm finding myself getting addicted to songs that I previously brushed aside. It's this that has made me want ... read more

Tim Heidecker - What The Brokenhearted Do...
71

There's nothing inherently wrong with this album, but I hate to say that there isn't much that is memorable on it. I think that I'll put this album on in the background for something that's pleasant to hear, but I won't be going out of my way to listen to this again in the future.

I give this album 5 bags of popcorn and 2 bags of cold coffee.

Favorite songs: When I Get Up, Illegal

Foxygen - Seeing Other People

This is a weird album. Every track is like a back and forth between me hating and loving it. Songs that I thought were absolutely horrible the first time I listened to the album suddenly seemed brilliant on this second listen.

Favorite songs: News, Face the Facts

MGMT - Little Dark Age
74

I feel like this album works best when listened to from front to back. That's not a bad thing, and I think it's clear at this point in MGMT's career that they don't care about getting another hit single out. The first listen when it came out, I came out really dissatisfied with it. However, it seems that I grow to appreciate it more with each listen. I won't be surprised if I come back and give this album a higher score in the future.

Favorite songs: When You Die, Hand It Over, Me and Michael

The Japanese House - Good At Falling
78

In February, 'Maybe You're The Reason' was my first exposure to The Japanese House, and heading into this album I still didn't know what to expect. I listened to it the day it was released and came away with mixed first impressions. I was able to pick out a couple of songs from the album that really stood out to me, but the rest seemed to blend in with everything else. My second listen the other day however, I came away with a greater appreciation for it. This album is packed with catchy ... read more

This album is perfect for a nighttime drive in the summer. This album is full of great songs that I've kept coming back to over and over again since first listening to the album when it came out.
