I won't pretend like RHCP has ever had genius lyrics but this really is something else. It's so chaotic I feel like not even an AI bought on Fiverr could come up with something this deranged. The energy of the album is nice, and the instrumentals make it possible to sit through it. Overall I don't see the point of making an album so soon after Unlimited Love especially if it's worse in every way.
Got recommended this album by someone, but man, I really struggled to get through it. It's just too long for what it is. I'll gladly listen to 2 hour albums but not if it's like this. None of the songs are really captivating, not even mildly interesting. It's passable at best. It's music, but it didn't make me feel anything.
Starts of great, Swim and Sleep is a masterpiece! Unfortunately the record falls flat by the 5th song and fails to recover (though Monki is pretty good).
I struggled for a long time to come up with any words that do justice to this and Spirit of Eden. But writing a review is a waste of time, when I can just say that this is one of the finest albums ever created. I think everyone can find something profound in this album.
13 years of waiting, and we get... what exactly? Is this closure or is it a continuation?
There is undoubtedly a strong and positive chemistry between the god-tier drums of Gavin, Steven's ingenious strings and depressing vocals, all topped off by the atmospheric layers brought on by Richard. It's like this post-hiatus period has brought some newfound energy, bringing refreshing ideas sprinkled throughout the album. At the same time, we get classic PT stuff that could be straight off Deadwing ... read more
Just some Irish people with a shoe fetish whining into a microphone about how sad they are. What's the big deal?
A theatrical, musical and lyrical masterpiece.
Brutally slow and introspective, Perfect Light is an emotional and contemplative journey from beginning to end. Each track pulled at my heart. I think the drawn out, somewhat repetitive nature of a slowcore album like this is exactly what makes it so powerful. It's the feeling of being stuck in the past, reliving memories and feelings endlessly. Trapped in limbo, not being able to return to the past, while not able to move forward either. This feeling is captured perfectly on this record. ... read more
After a few listens, I guess I have to say I just don't get it. It's not for me. The instrumentals are actually quite nice! I listened carefully and I get the messages. Totally understand why people like it. I just think that the significance of the meaning of the songs is ruined by describing them so literally. And with all the swearing and excessive autotune in places, I just can't take it seriously. I can see he can be a talented songwriter, because sometimes the lyricism is very clever and ... read more

Here Come The Tears is by far the best Judas Priest song. Absolutely stunning, the scream gives me chills every time. Rest of the album holds up well too.
The parallels between this band and early Black Sabbath are obvious, but I think this LP holds up well by itself. It's haunting, drawn out, and eerie, with some interesting compositions and raw vocals, making Flower Travellin' Band just as much fundamental progenitors of the doom subgenre as Sabbath were.
One of the best prog / symphonic metal albums of the early 2000s.
Unlimited Love is unapologetically an RHCP album, not least due to Frusciante's return. This LP feels and sounds familiar while providing an intriguing experience, with tracks like "Aquatic Mouth Dance" showing there's plenty of innovative and fresh energy left in the band. All this makes it, in my eyes, their best album since By The Way. (Stadium Arcadium has better singles, but that album as a whole is way too bloated).
