the Bandcamp gods made me do it!!!
it sounds nice, for something to kinda sorta scare me?
leave it to one on the best electronic acts ever to fix this trash heap of an original song.
it's wild to think that the debut album from The 1975 came out almost ten years ago now. they really have progressed for better and for worse. their discography is like a potluck. some of the dishes are absolutely fire, and some of them are just weird failed casseroles. you sorta just end up taking their discography piece meal style. personally, their debut is great, and A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships is my favorite from the group. i dislike the other two albums quite a bit. the band ... read more
i feel like Lukah has a book report that could easily be a B+/A- book report, but then runs it through the copier 15 times and turns it in. it's still a great book report, but it's the same book report.
2. FLYING LOW - 4.0
7. BLACK BELT JONES - 4.0
i described their 2020 release as "a humid summer where you desperately need to dry off". i also used the adjective of "soggy".
the adjective for this one is "damp". it's still taking forever to dry. why didn't you just set it up in a way that makes it dry FASTER.
2. Wide Eyes - 4.0

if i wanted to listen to an Ellie Goulding album, i'd just listen to an Ellie Goulding album.
in the ever growing maturity of the audience that digs this kind of pop, this comes across as very derivative and undercooked. except for Pineapple Slice. that track ROCKS. if only the rest of the album ROCKED.
9. Pineapple Slice - 5.0 & SOTY
this album is bookended by two fantastic compositions, and then the songs surrounding those are good, but then you get to the middle of the sandwich and you realize it's just another slice of bread.

i'll be happy to admit that Mount Eerie doesn't do too much for me. when i read the production credits and the person behind this body of work, i was a little bit skeptical.
...and just like that, it is DRENCHED in atmosphere and some extremely captivating performances. do i mess with the songwriting on this? no. not really.
2. Blackest Bile - 4.5
the first two Oh Wonder albums are two of my guilty pleasures. i really enjoy them both, Ultralife especially. their self-titled debut brings back so many memories, studying the night away in college, and still listening to select tracks from it from time to time. their second album added more robust instrumentation, lively performances, and instances where they both don't sing in octaves the entire time! and after that...was regression. i was so disappointed in No One Else Can Where Your Crown ... read more
the one Brick album thing is the only OME album i can truly say i enjoy. i'm being honest! honest! and this did not change my opinion! i feel bad for telling the truth, okay!? this mixing is also VERY STINKY!!!
10. Multi-Game Arcade Cabinet - 4.0 but only because of RAP FERRERIA really.
