when "is this and yes" came on, i tried to let my cat listen to it and she scrammed away really quickly.
i like this album more than my cat does.
3. who sees you - 4.5
i feel like i listened to the same song ten times but at least the one song didn't suck.
aight aight, don't think this description is sus, i'm just trying to use a food analogy. k? aight here we go.
Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor is like a big, healthy, green banana. you can tell that it's gonna be a BANGIN' banana, the thing is gonna be awesome, we just gotta wait a little bit longer for it to ripen and be ready for the best banana experience. some people like green bananas, and green bananas aren't necessarily bad, but they just need to ripen and mature just a liiiittle bit ... read more
for some reason Zurich Is Stained is missing from the original album on TIDAL? huh?!?
this is my first introduction to Pavement! this album is pretty cool! for being release thirty years ago, it's easy to see where this album has spread it's influence onto, in portions of indie rock, emo, and punk in general. this is a great blueprint to base everything off of. the standouts shine so fucking brightly that the rest of the album is kind of forgettable, but an overall very enjoyable listen from ... read more
it's like one of those leg-numbing poops that really empties you out and you feel so damn good afterwards.
i never doubted that Frank Zappa can really get avant-garde with his music, but the fact that this holds up this well over 50 years later is incredibly impressive. the performances are incredible, the lyrics are nothing but jolly and saccharine, and the palette throughout the entire album is so crazy and captivating.
some of the record scratches sound like POOPY FARTS :] :] :]

hey. hey you. yeah, you. you see that body of water on the album cover? yeah, floating on that is what it's like listening to this album. yes, theres occasional shallow spots and you may get nicked by a twig every now and then, but for the most part, the waters are completely calm and relaxed. you really should go and wade in the pond sometime.

you know how you chop off the end of the asparagus because you're not supposed to eat it?
an INCREDIBLY important record, it wouldn't be on a /mu/ essentials list if it wasn't. a lot of the breaks and instrumental drones surrounding them are a bit tacky and were meant to be built upon, but the appreciation for the foundation is not lost on the listener. a cool experience one time through.

winter in a bottle.
i love this foundation, but only feel like there is a bit too little here. maybe that's the point. this album put me in such a sleepy state that i really can't think. it feels nice to zone out, though
1. Unluck - 4.5
6. Limit to Your Love - 5.0
just as fun as it is incredibly spastic.
this predates Vulfpeck or any of Cory Wong's material but i feel the influence on it pretty hard, as well as other disco house that was coming out at this time. the instrumentation is catchy and the melody's are definitely gonna be stuck in your head for a while. i just wish there were less songs that were so short and more songs that felt a bit more fleshed out and less looped. it's fun for pre-game background music or if a corporate event needs ... read more
this would be the best Tourist album by a million billion miles if the first two tracks carried through to the rest of the album.
this album is the equivalent of a supply and demand curve.

contrary to popular opinion, this is NOT the greatest jazz record of all time. i would argue that it's not even the best Mingus album. but it's still DAMN good.
Mingus knows how to make a small brass group have the depth of an entire congregation. some of the chord structures in these moments as well as others across his catalogue never fail at giving my goosebumps goosebumps. the progression of these tunes is also especially impressive, as most through-composed music is very difficult to have ... read more
my personal tastes tend to gravitate towards music with a lot of polish. something with meticulous attention to detail, and the mix and master sounding pristine. i can forgive a couple of annoying tropes if something has a professional studio sheen on it. as a music listener and media consumer, it's my biggest short coming. if the album has production that is weak, slapdash, or a bit too DIY, then by George the musicians better be passionately performing their hearts out.
this album is that ... read more
pure pop nirvana.
i'm listening to this album from front to back for the nth time while writing these words. so many times do i have to shut my eyes, grin, and immerse myself into how hypnotizing this release is. every moment of this album keeps you on your toes. it's almost indescribable to put into words. almost.
Charli XCX before this was known as a pretty generic pop artist. she was primarily known for three songs: "I Love It" with Icona Pop, "Fancy" with Iggy Azalea, ... read more
