Unfortunately, many of my problems from his previous work continue to persist. This one is his longest album yet, and while it has less boring moments, it overall will not be as memorable because of its length. While the wordplay and lyrics are immaculate, I cannot give this a rating solely based on that, and the beats just don't connect with me as much.
A little long and there are some boring moments, but those are really the only reasons I have this below Resurrection. Otherwise, this has better rapping, writing, and production, plus some great features that were mostly lacking on Common's previous effort.
No I.D. is a GOAT, confirmed. This and Kanye show as much. While I wouldn't say Common's rapping is amazing, it is are certainly solid for being this early in his career. Of course, writing "I Love H.E.R. Again" is a feat at any point in someone's career.
Much better after the first six or so tracks. Not as much a sequel to the original Man On The Moon duology as I would've hoped, but it still does a decent job merging Cudi's new sound and some nostalgic aspects of days past.
I don't know man...this is good, but just not for me. Maybe it's because Cudi's lyrics don't speak to me, maybe it's because the vocals and beats sound obnoxious, but whatever it is, I can say that I'm only gonna be returning to four or five songs of this album.
These songs did not need to be added. T.G.I.F. is pretty fire, but I don't really care for Man On The Moon or Is There Any Love.
Fun, but also very spacey and vibey at times. In general, this is a much more dynamic album than I expected, with the outro being basically a mainstream pop song, and Make Her Say being a rap cut that could be on a Kanye album.
Some brief glimpses of incredible talent, but overall I don't enjoy Cudi's singing as much as I did from his features that I've heard, and the production is pretty standard.
RE-REVIEW
67 -> 71
Fun, catchy, and doesn't really need to be taken too seriously. A little boring at times for sure, but not to an extent where I feel this project is mid anymore.
Despite being overall very mid, this is actually pretty interesting throughout with some insane moments and surprisingly good songs. The lows are just so bad. Unfinished, obnoxious, and AI-ridden. I'm actually rooting for BULLY to be Ye's worst album tbh.
Wow, I'm actually done with Kanye's discography, after a long time- wait, what do you mean there's more?
Bland, boring, and uninteresting. The best moments don't feel like they belong on this album. Just listen to Follow God and move on would be my recommendation.
I think I'd like to echo Fantano's words, because this album is so incredibly futuristic. Kanye probably has his best verses in recent memory, and Kid Cudi, while of course providing transcendent vocals, also has some pretty great rapping. Really wish that Yasiin Bey feature was a verse, but it's great for what it is.
A little mixed throughout, but those final five tracks raised my score A LOT. NMPILA is fucking insane btw.
This album is such a mixed bag. I mean, obviously, it's a hugely experimental for Kanye, and I do think some of it works. That being said, I'm kinda glad this didn't become the new thing for Ye.
