This album got like 2.5 hard hitters but the rest is just forgettable. love this type of experimentation though need more like this
unfortunately not to memorable for me, there are some great cuts like Slow and Dethroned but I dont revisit this record much. Although did see a live clip recently of Dethroned and im a bit more intrigued. But good as a listen yk
So happy i randomly heard the name "black midi" one day, this record is so raw and makes no sense in the best way possible. perfect run of tracks from front to back. Actually Life Changing. No way to describe the sound
very solid record, some truly beautiful ambient-gaze or wtv the fuck. love the flow of the record, too many "interlude" tracks though!
fuck it have my children. im crying so hard
Honestly I feel like im missing something. I appreciate the rawness but there's like 3 repayable great songs.
While i find this project to still be stellar work relative to all music, for DG its a little dryer at times but still some absolute hard hitters like Online, Dilemma, and Disappointed. Disappointed in particular is super cool with the sampling almost reminds me of Giving Bad People Good Ideas. but the voids and stop of flow marks it lower
Personally one of my favorite records of all time, so lucky to have the physical vinyl. So violent, such stagger and stutter, along with the endless anxiety. Hip Hop pushed to its limits for sure.
This album feels like the teenage experience wrapped into a teal package, so many of the songs on this are actual classics. I haven't been with this album too long but I have already cried to some of the songs so that has to mean something.
Favorites: Little Dipper, Stars, Why I like the Robins
Least Fav: Id like your hair long, the very old man
I genuinely fell in love with this album, the first listen i didnt think I was that engaged but I kept listening to the tracks and it just got better each listen. The arrangement of instruments and sounds throughout the whole album is so beautiful. I love the almost folky sound of it...
Favorites: Jesus Etc, Ashes of American Flags, Pot Kettle Black, Reservations
Least Favorite: Radio Cure, War on War
I remember disliking this album and Elliot when I first tried listening to him, when i was starting to get into music heavily but for some reason i felt gravitated towards him and this album again and thank god i did, he is an amazing artist and he achieves the pinnacle of sadness and comfort perfectly in this album
First Elliot Smith's guitar playing is something I haven't heard in any folk or country ever, I'm not saying it's the most technically hard, but it's very ... read more
I think My War title track is the best black flag song to exist. The more slower metal tracks are a little to similar but the one i think has the best replayability and is Three Nights. Very consistent through out the whole project and the solos on this thing kill
