Lot of fat that needed to be trimmed off but a few of the tracks really stood out on their own
It took a little bit to get used to but listening to Yoni speak from a position of immediate, recent pain was a breath of fresh air. Previous albums have a tone of an eternally yearning young man. This one just made sense for how much time has passed and for the events in Yoni's life. Grateful to have gotten more music from him.
Tarnished silver.
Symbolism that one is beautiful and one has also experienced what there is to experience. Each scratch and dent a new memory. Each moment permanently stamped on, each moment turned into eternity.
Cold and expressionless on its face, fragility defining each time it learned something new.
Sounds of sitting too close to the TV while everything around and within me changes
bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz is a constant sound (i signed up for that listening to beach house) but this was just a little too "early" sounding for me to give it the usual beach house "oh my god the world is so pretty when im alone" feeling. Still had fun and listened to other beach house projects after
I loved Run Into Flowers for so long and had a slightly rude awakening when i realized that the same artist that made a massive radio hit also made the same song I identified with to feel cool and unique (thats the point of music reviews right) but the full album is fucking incredible. I'm happy, I'm sad, I'm drunk on this album. Thanks
Extremely abrasive start to an incredible band
It felt exactly like a predecessor to later Slowdive albums. I stared at my shoes and also did homework so it was a good experience. thanks guys
Super heartfelt and personal album from Danny Brown. I felt like I was getting a peak into his past and how it's influenced his current head space which is awesome as a fan of his other music. Only drawback is some of the choruses fell flat, but thats sort of what I expect on deeply personal projects. Overall good, not the Danny Brown music I would revisit though.
I had no idea what to expect after being introduced to this album through Clear II being automatically queued after I forgot to shuffle my playlist. The album beginning with an incredibly coherent yet sludge-filled doom metal song followed by integration of brass that changed the tone throughout the album in such surprising and satisfying ways was incredibly captivating. The vocals felt reminiscent of Elder but with more of an ethereal and distant sound that added that extra bit to feeling ... read more
So chaotic yet so composed in its delivery. I loved the feeling of recognizing sounds that felt like they inspired other noise/psychedelic rock that this album gave me, with a nonzero amount of songs that sound like parody of the music popular at the time of release.
Favorite: Human Cannonball
Notable: 22 going on 23 is brutal
I gotta say that even now that I've gone into this rabbit hole where i feel a million eyes on me when listening to music, this feels like home. Brings me back to the day sometime in the 2010s when the youtube algorithm fundamentally changed everything by showing me Dopesmoker and the hour long song gimmick consumed me. I ended up getting the whole Stoned Meadow of Doom pipeline and couldnt take myself seriously anymore when listening to seemingly AI generated music because of how many bands ... read more
