Easily one of my go-to albums when I need to fall asleep, and I mean that as a compliment. Perfectly relaxing and does what it needs to do. Not the biggest fan of the choir synths but everything else is wonderful
This is one that's gonna need a second more active listen but I enjoyed it
I had this recommended by a coworker who said this was his favorite band and to be completely honest I did not enjoy it really at all, I found the switch ups to make no sense, the production felt so empty and I just cannot get into this vocalist. I felt nothing listening to this project. That said, the coworker who recommended it also likes Tom Macdonald so enough said. That is not to compare the artists or the fans of the respective artists, I am just using that as an example of the fact that ... read more
Basically a Roger Waters solo album with David Gilmour solos on a few songs and one song with vocals from him. There's a few songs on here I like, especially When The Tigers Broke Free with its use in the film of The Wall. You can really clearly see the cracks that have formed in the band with this album
I was definitely feeling fatigued and I probably should've just paced myself more with this deep dive but this was the last album and I couldn't stop at the finish line. I thought it was decent. She does really show off her storytelling abilities and the Elton John duet was pretty cool. This is probably one that I need to return to when I can devote my full attention to it but for now that is it
Interesting if not entirely necessary considering it's just a bunch of rerecorded versions of songs off of Sensual World and Red Shoes. It's a little hit or miss for me but overall interesting in context listening to all of her albums chronologically
This is the point in my Kate Bush deep dive where I was starting to feel a bit fatigued because I did this all over the course of two days so apologies to any readers for shorter reviews from here on out. There's a lot to take in here and this is sort of a return to form for Kate after Red Shoes, in the sense that she's back on that mysterious music. I also think it's really cool that her son is on here
This felt like the first album in a while that felt almost safe? Very 80s sounding production here which I found slightly jarring considering this was 1993 but what can I say? I had fun with it. She proved 4 times in a row that she can pull off really weird and out there experimental music, so frankly she doesn't need to prove anything anymore. Overall not her best but I don't think it needs to be
This was one I was really curious about because everyone always talks about the last two albums, both of which I really enjoyed, and the albums before those two felt like they were sort of ramping up to those moments, so I had no idea what to expect from post-hounds of love. And I was again pleasantly surprised. Amazing production and a really engaging collection of tracks. Kate continues to prove she just is in a different class when it comes to interesting and creative songwriting and ... read more
Hands down her best project. The contrast between polished pop leaning songs and the surreal conceptual tracks on the back half is seamless and shows that Kate is fully in control of her artistic vision and can be whatever she wants and it's so hard hitting and so perfect
I didn't know whether or not I was going to like this if I'm being honest, this was actually the second Kate Bush album I heard after Hounds Of Love. I had this recommended from a friend who said that it didn't click with him but it's also one of her most acclaimed records so I was really curious to see what all of this was about and to be honest I was really pleasantly surprised. This is absolutely Kate Bush at her most unhinged and I'm honestly here for it. The wild unpredictable nature of it ... read more
We are so back and we've got some new sounds on this one! Getting some hints of what's to come in future albums. Not much else to say other than pretty dang solid art pop album
I did my Kate Bush deep dive about a week before I started this profile so I'll try to recount my feelings as I went through.
This is a really solid debut that I felt was incredibly promising for the rest of her discography. And the fact that she was so young putting out a quality album like this is really impressive. She really shows off her high pitched vocals on this project and sets herself apart right from the get go with a really charming personality. Just a fun time
Surprise to literally nobody this is my all time favorite dance album. The first exposure to Daft Punk I had was actually the Tron: Legacy soundtrack funny enough and I loved that at the time. I knew even then that Daft Punk was supposed to be a big deal in the electronic scene, but I didn't have much experience with electronic music in general. Then one day my cousin and I were hanging out and we're talking about the soundtrack and she was like "you gotta hear this song from them, it's ... read more
I thought I would start with some of my all time favorite albums and I figured what better album to start with than Pink Floyd's The Wall. This is an album that holds a lot of personal significance for me as it's one of those albums that was exactly what I needed it to be when I needed it.
I was about 10 when I first heard it. I was on a family trip to California and we were on our way back when my dad put in a CD of this album and it for me it was one of those formative experiences that shapes ... read more
