Corey Feldman - Angelic 2 the Core
3

This album is so bad, but fortunately it's funny bad. To me it's a little bit like watching The Room. Like it's really bad but it's at a level that is just baffling. Not only that but it's like a Russian doll in how many different layers it has of just horrible decisions. Please Corey put this back on streaming, this album brings me so much joy

Roger Waters - The Dark Side of the Moon Redux
12

This is like Roger Waters went "what if my classic album was just mind numbingly boring? I can't wait to get redux albums of the albums that came out after he left the band

Radiohead - OK Computer
74

I know this is a blasphemous take and I'll maybe get crucified for it, but I have never been a big Radiohead fan and I sometimes think they are a little bit overrated? To me this is music that I'll listen to every once in a while but I tend to appreciate it more than I enjoy it personally. This could be something that grows on me at some point but at the moment I can't put it higher than being "decent" as far as personal enjoyment goes

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies
96

I really just wish this had been a full length LP instead of an EP because this is easily some of my favorite Alice In Chains material and some of my favorite grunge in general

Swans - The Beggar
86

Me: "oh, no 30 minute songs, that's weird. Maybe they're shortening it up this time around."
*sees their longest official song yet as the second to last track*
Me: 😐

Jokes aside while this album isn't as brutal and hard hitting and brutal as some of their other material, I don't think it needs to be. Instead it's beautiful and meditative which can make it feel like it drags a bit, but I think some of their most emotionally moving songwriting is on here. Michael is definitely ... read more

Swans - leaving meaning.

I feel like following up a trilogy like what they did right before this, it's almost setting up for failure. This is not bad by any means but it definitely feels like one of the weaker Swans albums. Not really feeling this one unfortunately

Swans - The Glowing Man
95

Yeah this is definitely an incredible ending to an incredible trilogy. There are moments here that just leave me speechless, especially the title track. Just wow

Swans - The Seer
83

Incredible. I feel like it's almost a given at this point that Swans are making terrifying music and because of that I feel bad that I keep saying the music is terrifying in my reviews, but it's true that this is terrifying music. I also thought it was interesting hearing some of the folk stuff come back a few times on this album

Swans - My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky
73

I didn't find myself as invested in this as I did with Soundtracks or the previous album, and maybe that was because there was a lot of stuff happening at work while I had this on, but I did enjoy it. I'll have to return to this

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
93

This was the first Swans album I ever heard. I was going down a rabbit hole trying to find music that had a disturbing sound and I heard this come up a lot so I put it on and... I hated it. It did not click with me and frankly I could not stomach it. Mind you, I was going in completely blind with zero knowledge of the band or any of their other music, which in hindsight is maybe not going to make for the best listening experience with a behemoth of an album like this. I found it sickening and ... read more

Swans - The Great Annihilator
94

This was one I was looking forward to hearing and it did not disappoint. It was jarring to go from the folk stuff on the last stretch of albums to the pounding experimental stuff here, but it was jarring in a good way I think. I appreciate the refusal to stick to one thing

Swans - Love of Life
69

I don't think I was as big of a fan of this as the previous album but I enjoyed it overall. It was chill to hear some voice recordings which I know is gonna be expanded upon with Soundtracks

Swans - White Light from the Mouth of Infinity
84

This is the album I was wishing the previous album had been. It didn't have to be the darkest thing ever but I wished it had more of what made Swans unique. I happened to really enjoy this one

Swans - The Burning World
45

This one has me feeling mixed for almost the opposite reasons as some of the early albums and that is that it feels like it's minus something. There's some kind of zest that seems to be faded. Maybe it'll come back

The Caretaker - Everywhere at the end of time
100

The first time I listened to this album was an experience I don't think I'll forget, probably until I get dementia and forget most of my memories and everyone around me. And if this album depicts only a fraction of what that would be like, that is an absolutely terrifying thought to have. I discovered this through a YouTube video that my algorithm sent my way during the height of the pandemic in summer of 2020. The artwork paired with how dark they claimed this music was piqued my curiosity so ... read more

Swans - Children of God
90

This is a lot more cynical of an album than what I typically would personally tend to gravitate toward. That being said I think while it's not something I find myself being able to necessarily relate to, they do such a great job putting you in the soundscape and transporting you through a dark and terrifying journey that is as immersive and at times beautiful as it is ominous and brooding. I especially like a lot of Jarboe's contributions here.
EDIT: this thing really grew on me in a ... read more

Swans - Holy Money
60

Do you know what that means? It means you need money. Holy money

Swans - Greed
60

While I definitely like this better than Cop, I can't help but still feel pretty mixed. Jarboe is finally here, that's cool. I think my main thing is that I know that they're going to do this sound better in the future. Maybe this will be a grower. If there's one thing I know about Swans it's that they've had to really grow on me over time

Swans - Cop
54

Yeah this one isn't really for me, I felt like something that made the debut work for me wasn't quite here on this album and I can't really put my finger on it. I appreciate its existence but it's not really sticking with me
