Michael Jackson - Thriller
94

God damn. Michael Jackson is just as good as people say. If not even better.

The so-called “King of Pop” has probably made the greatest pop album of all time, and its name is Thriller.

This album blew me away in virtually every way possible. The production and mixing are on a level most engineers can only dream of, and it’s almost 45 years old.

The record is also written masterfully, packed with melodies that hit the brain in exactly the right way. It’s music that ... read more

PRESIDENT - DOOM LOOP
80

I have to say that I have actually quite enjoyed PRESIDENT, and what they have put out so far. I have no idea whether they’re an industry plant or not, and to be completely honest, I don’t really care. I just want to listen to good music. Record labels will always find ways to earn money, and if that is to back a band heavily without really disclosing it, then so be it.

Although their first EP wasn’t anything special, it was a pleasant experience. But I still felt it was a ... read more

Beartooth - Free
47

The most Beartooth, Beartooth song ever?

While not that interesting, I don’t mind this single. Caleb sounds fantastic, the chorus is huge, and the breakdown is welcome sight. This is what I’ve come to expect from Beartooth the last few years. It’s not bad, but not for me.

Beartooth - Pure Ecstasy
72

One of the best Beartooth singles in a while. Both slower and heavier than a lot they have come out with the last few years. The chorus stands out, and fits the mood of the track well. The instrumentals are on par, and as good as you’d expect.

I’m not a fan if the outro at all. That kind of «acoustic demo» outro rarely works for me. The breakdown is also bit underwhelming. This is definitely a missed opportunity for Caleb to go crazy.

All in all, this single actually ... read more

Between the Buried and Me - Colors
100

There are always albums you repeatedly hear about. Albums that people recommend over and over. Albums that your favourite musicians from your favourite bands praise as their biggest inspirations. Albums that somehow manage to trigger something extremely deep in anyone that listens to it. «Colors» by Between The Buried And Me is one of these albums. I can’t even begin to imagine how many times I have been recommended this. But still, it took me way to long before my first ... read more

Static Dress - Nostalgia Kills
100

This might just be one of the best singles of the decade. I’m not even exaggerating…

Contrasts - False Idol
77

THIS BAND NEEDS MORE ATTENTION!

Wow, this EP came right out of the blue for me. With only 700 monthly listeners on Spotify, Contrasts completely blew me away. They manage to match bands with over 100 times their numbers. It’s jam-packed with great instrumentation, good vocal performances, and a sharp mix. While the ideas here aren’t new, Contrasts still manage to mark their territory as a band to look out for over the next few years.

FAVOURITES: False Idols, Ghost In My Head, The ... read more

Opal In Sky - The Artist
90

These guys have done it again. I fucking love this band, close to perfect metalcore. And god that chorus…

Currents - All That Follows
92

This is Currents yet again marking their territory as the “Kings of Djentcore”. “All That Follows” is their best work since “I Let The Devil In”, which is my favourite ep of all time. “All That Follows” is basically just that record, in a modernised form, with better production, vocals and instrumental performances. All the tracks on the ep has an immense impact and are all memorable in their own way.

Though with that in mind, I personally think ... read more

Bad Omens - Left For Good
80

The best single so far. I got to say I’m really interested in their new album, even though none of the new tracks have blown me away. I quite enjoyed their last album, but it seems like they have a clearer vision for this record, than what they had on TDOPOM. All in all, this could definitely be a positive direction for the band.

Bring Me The Horizon - Lo-files
79

This is straight up an extremely well accomplished lo-fi interpretation of some of my absolute favourite songs.

Of Mice & Men - Wake Up
50

Is it just me or is this just mixed horribly? The vocals drown and the instrumentals sound mushy. Anyways, this was fine I guess…

Deafheaven - Lonely People With Power
94

I guess I’m a bit late to the party, but holy shit. Talk about an introduction to a whole new genre. A genre I’m so excited to dig deeper into.

“Lonely People With Power” is an album that I loved on release, and has continued to grow on me until now. It’s a record that continuously gives the user something to work with, something to experience. It’s an album that wants to be relistened to, an album that wants your full attention. And wow it’s ... read more

Ice Nine Kills - The Great Unknown
45

My expectations for new Ice Nine Kills music were pretty high considering I really liked "A Work of Art". But this did sadly not do it for me.

Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb
90

“This Place Will Become Your Tomb” has helped me so much when I’ve been at my absolute bottom.

While I think “Take Me Back To Eden” is a more interesting album sonically, Sleep Token has won me over with their beautiful and heartbreaking lyrics. They’re so sad, yet so
relatable…

Thank you Sleep Token for this gut-wrenching love album.

Gazpacho - Night
100

A journey through dreams
through blurred lines of what’s real
and what’s not
a captivating story
of truth
and imagination
a distant memory
a distant echo
a place
so far away
you’re not quite sure

A journey through the night
through the silent cries
of the thick fog
a house
alone
like you
and me
this is
a place
too far away
you know

You’ve been there
before
you drift
in the clouds
you drift
between thoughts
between breaths
you drift
between reality

House of Protection - Outrun You All
82

This is one of the only records I’ve heard, where I actually think the “Jordan style” production fits extremely well. It’s actually one of the best parts of the EP. Because this album goes unbelievably hard.

I have not been a part of the House of Protection hype at all, so this came right out of nowhere. And I’m so glad I checked it out. The instrumentation, vocals and production are so good! Easily one of the better and most impressive releases so far this ... read more

Architects - The Sky, the Earth & All Between
55

Architects is my favourite band of all time. There’s not a single piece of music that has ever touched me as much as “All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us” or “Holy Hell”. Therefore, it hurts me deeply to write this review.

Because the truth is that “The Sky, The Earth & All Between” is the definition of an album that doesn’t do anything for me. I won’t use the word soulless, because that is way too harsh, but it doesn’t make me feel ... read more

Falling In Reverse - God Is A Weapon
35

Didn’t hate it, but it was pretty boring all the way through. Better than anything from “Popular Monster” though.

Lorna Shore - Oblivion
85

THEY’RE FINALLY BACK WITH NEW MUSIC!

Lorna Shore is the most interesting deathcore band around right now, if not one of the most interesting metal bands period. I just don’t really see the point in a lot of the “cavemancore,” be as heavy as possible, direction a lot of deathcore bands has taken these days. Lorna Shore brings back the super technical, butter cutting lead riffs, and blends them with beautiful symphonic metal. They don’t compromise anything about ... read more

On Sleep Token - Even in Arcadia
"@SamuelStudios Yeah, no problem! I’m always open to others' opinions. "One of the only" could be an overstatement on my part, but I guess my point is that many metal bands do the same thing as others. Therefore, I think it's unfair that Sleep Token has received this much hate when they actively keep the "metal" genre alive. That's another point. People review their albums as "metal" albums and get disappointed when they realise that it's not. While they have metal elements, they need to be reviewed from an objective standpoint as a "music" album. I also agree that the fanbase can often be horrible, but the haters have become just as bad. Again, I think it's unfair that "the band" receives hate for this."

"@HomeSession3 Yeah, that makes sense I guess, but I just think that the way it’s done is so horrible and tasteless. Grown people spreading so much hate without proper reasoning. And sadly, I’m too young to have experienced the MySpace era…"
