Some very beautiful sounds on this exceptionally well produced album. Drags in a couple spots but there’s enough fun and unique stuff on here to keep it going.
i love this group so much man this album is so magical they just know how to make good vibe music. one of those groups that i understand why someone wouldn't really get, but once you get it then ur like goddamn these guys know how to make some good ass shit. y'know?
I have the least to say about this album. It was good but I think I need more time to sit with it. Let There Be More Light was a banger tho.
I've realized that people on this site just HATE David Gilmour lmao. This album isn't bad at all, just coming off of the wave of insane shit these guys made, it was hard to live up to. I like the 80s sound it had, Learning to Fly is an incredible song and made it worth listening to this album alone. I think it just doesn't have that many strong ideas going for it. Most of what I didn't like about this got improved on in Division Bell.
I love this album's creativity so much, you can tell just how much personality Syd Barrett brought to the group. This is one of those albums where the songs I like, I really really like but the stuff in between just didn't stick as much for me. Astronomy Domine, Matilda Mother, Interstellar Overdrive, The Gnome, and Bike are all my favs. I should give this one a relisten at some point because I think it would grow on me.
Two of my friends say this is one of, if not their favorite Pink Floyd so I am kinda bias to it compared to the rest of this site. I personally think that this is maybe one of the most boring Pink Floyd albums, the effort just doesn't seem all there and you can tell it was just Wall outtakes and then some. Shitty way for Roger Waters to leave the group. What elevates this album so much for me is my completely inexplicable love for Not Now John. I don't know why I love that song so much I just ... read more
Favorite Pink Floyd album cover lol. This album is really good I think the last track is the lowest point. Atom Heart Mother is maybe the weirdest Pink Floyd song but I'm always so down for it. The way the horns and guitar blend together so well actually made my jaw drop the first time I heard it. I also like how the song deconstructs and enhances itself towards the end. If, Summer '68, and Fat Old Sun are all really chill songs that I like a lot. I also think its cool that Gilmour reused the ... read more
This one had to grow on me. It's jarring hearing the softer less psychedelic songs after being used to Dark Side and Wish You Were Here. I think that this album is a perfect blend of Pink Floyd eras tho. One of These Days is so cool i love how the basslines juggle between each other and when the guitar comes in it makes me feel things. Fearless is actually a perfect song, it's just so chill. I think Seamus is maybe one of worst Pink Floyd songs but its really charming so it makes up for it. ... read more
I think this is the final frontier for whether or not someone is a fan of Pink Floyd. Animals is fucking insane, but not easily accessible because not a lot of people want to listen to 15 minute long songs! I think this is the best sound any Pink Floyd album has. Dogs is probably my favorite song by this group. Pigs has crazy sick guitar and piano and the synths and bass on Sheep just sounds so damn cool. I wish Pigs on the Wing was one song but I also like how it bookends the album its pretty ... read more
Y'all are trippin this album is so good. Obviously nowhere near as good as Rogers-era Pink Floyd but this site's score made me think this album was gonna be doodoo dog water but its a solid album filled with a bunch of really good songs. I've always loved David Gilmour's guitar and this album is filled with that so no complaints from me. I think that Gilmour's vocals are the weakest part of this album, there's some parts that are awkward sounding like he could've given a better second take. ... read more
I think that this is the most impressive Pink Floyd album. The fact that its as cohesive as it is and tells an actual story while also having each song be able to stand on their own as quality songs is very impressive. The amount of times I've been listening to a song on this album and then just ended up listening to the whole album is crazy. This whole album is a very fun experience but its hard to recommend to people because music aint like this nowadays and people think Pink Floyd is boring. ... read more
This is maybe my favorite album ever made. every second of this is the best music i've ever heard. this album alone got me into Pink Floyd. Shine On 1-5 is just a magical experience, Welcome to the Machine is somehow really dreary and hope filled at the same time. Have a Cigar is just an all around banger i fucking love the synths in it so much. The vocals and guitar on Wish You Were Here are so beautiful to listen to. I cannot even express how much I love the start of Shine On 6-9, that ... read more
finished the whole pink floyd discography so im leaving reviews in the order i listened to them.
When i first listened to this album a few years back i thought it was like a 7/10 but then after revisiting it last year i finally got it. This album is so insanely good and people who shit on it are haters. I understand not liking Pink Floyd because everyone has their own tastes in music but to say that they make bad music is just a false statement. I'm amazed at how good this album still sounds ... read more
scrumptious album. first vinyl in my collection also. only complaint is moonchild goes in to long
This album has a really cool sound, kinda like a tropical summertime vibe mixed with some spacey synths. This album will probably grow on me and I’ll come to like it more than I already do. Temples are very talented but they just need to dig a little deeper on their next project. Song writing is complete nothing on this one basically just psychedelica buzzwords as someone else put it.
actual crack was put into this album. i cannot comprehend how its as good as it is. like holy shit every second of this album was so fun to listen to. insanely creative and well made.
