I've never really heard of a soundtrack that outshines a movie by such a huge metric but after listening to this constantly I can easily see why. Freddies Dead alone makes this worth a listen
Easily one of the greatest Hip hop albums of all time. I love the story and the themes that Kendrick puts on display here, and the fact it's all based on his real-life experiences makes it that much more engaging. Some of the best chemistry in music is in this album, and it serves as a really fun album that highlights how mashing two genres together can really work out for the better. Hasnt aged the best, but the Beastie Boys were just trying to make fun music, it's like a proto three feet high and rising, just a bunch of kids having fun, and it pays off.
One of the greatest listens of all time, Outkast is in rare form in this album, and it really doesn't get much better than this. Personally, I see this as the album that laid the groundwork for more pop-influenced hip hop to come later down the line with Kanye but this might be that genre perfected. Both Big Boi and three stacks hold their own, and their chemistry is perfect.
