IDK, I can't hate this album despite how absolutely overblown the production is on almost all of this album. IDK, I've just grown enamoured with this weird group of queer soundcloud rappers and I can't look away from it. Is it any good? Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
buy the whole store lowkey kinda slapped. tears is really well produced as well it really dials back on the overblown production really nicely. I think at some point I submitted o hard to the irony poisoning that I just started vibing out but I ... read more
Oh yeah this definitely feels like a haunting new chapter for By Storm. I feel like I listened to this in a really awkward spot so I couldn't really take it all in and it feels like there are a few more pains left to grow into as a duo rather than a trio, but god damn it's beautiful.
It's goofy and completely unserious while also having a line about people saying he's too straight to be gay and too gay to be straight but also Xbox CoD lobby chat style "I would fuck your [insert every member of the opposing sniper's family here]" and it's just silly
"Damn, this debut album reminds me a lot of camp cope" I say not realising Georgia Maq from Camp Cope is literally featured on one of the songs here. I feel like it definitely has room to grow and for Rin to find her own sound away from the Camp Cope kind of wave, and she doesn't quite have the same bite as that trio did, but it's definitely put her on my list of new artists to watch for.
Genesis Owusu's debut album has only gotten better as time goes on, with its commentary spitting back and forth between talking about depression and racism, it's constantly brimming with emotion and personality. With the visage of the creeping black dog standing as a metaphor for both biting racism and the creeping dread of depression, this album manages to create a consistently unsettling air around it.
The album begins with a short track setting up the black dogs as well as the very eclectic ... read more
I ain't scoring something featuring Dave Chapelle can this transphobic prick stop showing up everywhere? I'll write my review after I'm done but my experience was so soured by him man holy crap man.
I will never have the same experience listening to Delresto (Echoes) as the first time I heard it on this album as the final 45 seconds there was some guy in the distance just screaming nonsense and it blended perfectly into the beat it literally sounded fucking perfect to end the song when it ... read more
Carly Rae Jepsen out here making god damn BREAKCORE now? This definitely feels less cohesive then a full record but in exchange we get a few tracks here that are experimenting with drum and bass and rnb (Kollage and Aeroplanes) stylings alongside her usual disco and synth pop influences. Hell, we get a CRJ breakcore song with After Last Night. I don't feel like this leaves the same impact as some of her best but still an absolute jam throughout.

O/n original listen I made note of how at some times the balance feels kind of off. It's amazing how differently the way you listen affects how disjointed those moments can feel. While there's still a lot of enjoyable stuff here, god, there's just no central feeling to the songs on this record. It plays with a fun variety of ideas and I still think they have the potential to outshine Babymetal someday, but there's just, going back to that comparison Babymetal's ... read more
Bro, Fantano what are you smoking here?
Look, I enjoyed this record when I listened to it, I think I forgot to review it at the time, but my biggest issues were essentially that I didn't get that little push that showed me what really pushed them over and I felt like the album was a bit too much of a mid-album sag with an explosive finish. However, the off-kilter flows from some of the opening tracks grew on me a lot and the final leg was bloody crazy. I realised after my experience with going ... read more
Firstly, Numi, please, just make a GOD DAMN SKA ALBUM! YOU OPEN THIS ON A TRACK THAT COULD EASILY FIT ONTO CATBITE'S LATEST RECORD! MAKE THE SKA ALBUM ALREADY PLEASE!
Run from the Sun is the latest record from VTuber Akuma Nihmune AKA Numi, and while I think it features some interesting influences, including songs that give me Carly Rae Jepsen, Dua Lipa and even Two Door Cinema Club vibes, Numi's singing is strangely thin through a lot of this record. I couldn't help but feel like she wasn't ... read more
Nah bro the user score for this album being a 77 the the time of writing this is a god damn crime, this album is absolutely breathtaking.
Kara Jackson's god damn debut is a god damn masterclass in doing a lot with very little, just an amazing voice, evocative storytelling and a few acoustic instruments. The album opens on this short little intro which goes on about how people just want people to notice them, no matter whether it's for good or bad things. It's a perfect setup for an album about ... read more
I'm kinda back and forth on this track, I really like the chaos of the track complimenting the uncertainty but there are these really weird moments where some new instrumental element will be thrown in partway through a phrase, like a saxophone line or some sudden guitar distortion, which feels like these really strange places to put them without feeling like controlled chaos. Also, I don't hate the speedrap bit after a few listens, it's actually complimenting the increasing speed of drum kicks ... read more
This album was my childhood and I'm insanely glad to see it still holds up like crazy. There are a few moments where it feels a little dull but some of the horn lines or the vocal loops are just so iconic to me, especially early on. The latin jazz is just so smooth across the whole thing it's actually just incredible to listen to. De camino a la vereda is a god damn perfect track
There's really nothing special here. There's a track called Habitual where they use Habitual to rhyme it and call someone else a bitch. IDK it's a petty, nothing, Paramorey and Avril Lavigney pop rock album.
Honestly, I don't hate it. Outside of the uwukawaii voice she throws out a few times but till the last 30 seconds of the track, everything kinda works. The instrumental is honestly fun, she's got some nice singing at times on the track, everything feels balanced. I don't think this is the worst she's ever rapped but that last 30 seconds was definitely a sharp left turn that kinda soured the overall experience.
I listened to the Will.I.Am and Britney Spears collab after this and this was a ... read more
Damn, 2D's side project do be weird. Dunno what kind of moniker "Damon Albarn" is though sounds corny.
This is my first experience listening to Blur outside of their big hit Song 2, I'm way more familiar with Damon Albarn's work as The Gorillaz, so this was honestly a really interesting departure from most of what I know of his work. Ballad of Darren is, as the title says, a ballad, a lot of slower, croony songs. However, I didn't walk away feeling like I usually do from ... read more
Jesus christ this is one of the blandest, mindless and most annoyingly repetitive songs ever
This EP hits like, 4/6 for me. A really versitile project that I see a lot of potential in.
Opening track Newjeans is some fun Drum and Bass learning EDM that just FEELS stylish god damn. Just pure fun with some lovely quirky production. Supershy is a banger drum and bass track that manages to keep a fun hook while keeping up the speed, especially with the pulsing bass giving the whole thing this oomph. This track does feel like it runs out of ideas at some point though.
ETA is then the first ... read more
This shit's aged like milk holy fuck. Holy crap this has aged like mild. I got curious after Gayle ruined the sample on the Barbie soundtrack and was like "I wonder what the rest of the album that the other song that sampled it but is actually good is like"
It's not good.
Please god don't listen to this.
It's so fucking gross and sleazy.
