I think this is 20 minutes too long Wilbert. I'm giving it a slight edge because I only got REALLY bored of the loop after 9 minutes.
I will admit that back in my younger years of my youth at the release of her first EP I did dabble in some of Gracie Abrams’ music. That was when I thought that she was a promising candidate in Indie-Pop and to an extent I still do but back then I grew out of her as I searched for more originality. My tastes never diverted but I felt pretty special to be early to the game of an artist I knew would gain more traction as the years would go on.
Now it’s 2024 and Abrams has released ... read more
Having the City Girls on your always is always a win, they bring their wit and energy on this one, that’s about as much enjoyment this song gives. For some reason Camila decided to nerf the hell out of these two and make them rap through clattering voice effects or something because they sound so undefined and lost in the mix at points. The structure on this song is so awkward, the verses don’t feel complete nor does the chorus really feel like a chorus. It could have been so much ... read more
I didn't bother listening to this song until I heard the album and its probably the best of the rollout. I kind of like the Japanese references from Haruki Murakami to Omasake but all of the callouts aren't that deep at all, I'd just call it an attempt. The "wrist, wrist, spritz, spritz" line is pretty clever in my opinion and works well in the hook, unfortunately almost every other lyric is another verse out of the 'pick-me' playbook and its so dry to even ... read more
Across The Tracks feels like an album that should have been better than it was because of how excellent the singles were. Don’t get me wrong I am pleasantly taking away more Boldy James and Conductor songs at the end of the day which you can always count me in for but I do wish that there was a little bit more coordination between the two.
Terms And Conditions was the first tease fans were blessed with and it was an excellent one at that. The Conductor’s beat is really hypnotic ... read more
I mean I only really have the same issues that I had with the last one but it feels way less harmful to the impact of the art itself. Nomad is rich in its deep (sounding) layers of production and catchy chorus. My favourite part is the harp which acts as a powerful team player for the track that gives a lot of groove to the song. Clairo has a really good way of writing though and this song is no exception I find the words to be cute, silky and sung really softly in a complimentary way.

So we got a finished version of this song and its pretty great. Kim Petras brings her A-game and with a little reconstruction Benny Long this song flows really well altogether. Its full of space and room to move your body and go with the flow of the music, this is a be free anthem of 2024.
Mustard absolutely kills it with a really addictive soul chop beat but Travis throws so hard with maybe his worst consecutive set of bars to date. “Not your average citizens, we’re movin’ like some immigrants” ๐
Every breath this album takes is cold and baron just like the stone that makes up the maze walls. Covetous wastes almost no space and crafts a Death Metal album that has its fair share of haunting scariness in the shout-less moments and some spine chilling force to the screaming. Maze Envy the title track will definitely go down to be one of my favourite songs of the year, it is a really great multi-phased and multi-instrumental masterclass because it demonstrates how you can wear your ... read more
There isn’t a flattering layer of production in sight here it’s all very baron and basic but the melodies are quite on point. I think the chorus sonically sounds good enough and is certainly able to hold its head but I get pretty bored of it all by the last time it’s sung. This song does feel quite off-putting because of the line “and you don’t even know my name” which insinuates that she’s a bit of an admirer from a distance. This probably isn’t ... read more
This song just has a rocky foundation and it makes everything else about it more uninteresting. The writing isn’t half bad but it’s delivered in a melody that doesn’t fit the guitar line well and turns Risk into an awkward sounding mess.
The autotune is incredibly unpleasant on this one. Also is Rina in the room with us?
I’m glad that we can look back on this and laugh about it for how ridiculous it was. This song is one of the most absurdly abysmal creations of the 2000s and thank goodness that this sort of thing stayed there. It’s definitely messed up to try and make this a hit and have the chorus calling a man gay because of his fashion choices. I don’t wanna hear any of that “oh it was a different time blah blah blah” no it wasn’t bro. Also if you’re going to try ... read more
His engineers definitely searched up: The Joker Type Beat FREE on youtube for these instrumentals. Also bro “I said will you marry my dick she said: Yeah, I do” I can promise you that shit never happened. Femme Fatale also might be the least sexy song of all time too. In fact this whole album really markets itself as a mysterious and sexy experience but it’s so repulsive and ugly the way it romanticises sex addiction and drug abuse in a relationship. Turn away while you still ... read more
These songs definitely feel like they could have had a spot on the album but I also don’t know where they would have gone because of how good the original track list felt. My favourite from these B-sides is It’s All Soup Now because of its delicious 5D texture that really grabs me through the speakers. The song has many developments in the story and I’m fascinated by how well it’s done. It feels like every time a layer gets added or subtracted it changes everything about ... read more
YES THIS IS SO GOOD I LOVE THESE GIRLS. I’m so glad they played it out this way. What a great way to close a story.
Not the most intelligible bars but she definitely has some shit to talk which I like along with really strong cadence and delivery which she kills. Once again though Ice is sabotaged by some awful production and being cut too short. The runtime could have been longer and the hook would have been crazy to hear a second time. There was some spilled potential here!
