Bad beat and bad bars. Rich The Kid has never stood out amongst his peers so I’ve been quite astonished to see him garner this much attention from Ye recently. On this song Rich spits us a flavourless verse with unpalatable writing that tells us he’s about as intelligible as a rock, I mean who calls their pockets “pregnant” bro really? As for Mr West obviously he’s trying to swindle in a line that’s going to be the talk of the town on twitter for the week by ... read more
Everybody's favourite lean gut bum has returned once again to only bring nothing new to the table. This album is called GEMIN! and he really gives the Gemini name a bad rep with this one. Maybe if this album was called C@ncer he wouldn't be such a deadbeat father and a rapist. Some of the songs on GEMIN! are the best LUCKI efforts in recent years though, I want to point attention to EXOTIC which LUCKI sounds quite at home on, the beat definitely compliments his laid back flow and ... read more
It’s actually a little embarrassing that this won a grammy. I don’t want to give a compliment to this song, it doesn’t do anything for me.
On one hand I find LUCKI to be a really awful person and a deadbeat dad but I also find his music being terribly boring.
I feel like I can hear LUCKI struggling with his breath control as a result of the drugs he is rapping about. The man must do a different take for each bar or something because he really only has one flow too. Also not to say that Frat-Rap is bad but when you openly talk about your year long benders you should as least RAP instead of speak. LUCKI does have substance and ... read more
A really strong beginning and a really strong ending, I adore the loop on this song even if I don't understand half of the sounds I'm actually hearing. One of my favourite parts was when he brought the guitar in which made the song feel like a stadium soundtrack. I think that this song lacks appearance from Peggy though and its why I feel less keen on it than other people because I do enjoy his bars about white people lol.
EDIT: Structure wise I would prefer this song to be redone. ... read more
Not directionless but pretty devoid of anything satisfying when it comes to Noise Rock. I didn’t enjoy the way these songs felt after hearing the entire piece because they could have usually ended earlier or savoured a moment more. Hellraizer did surpass my expectations though and was probably the best of the batch. In the end Sludgebath isn’t great as a project overall and I’d stay clear of this if you prefer your industrial music more cutthroat and coherent.
Hotel La Rut is as abstract as it is advertised. This album is like getting caught in a light breeze that can take you anywhere but you aren’t resisting. Joanna sings so colourfully about all sorts of things that it makes even the strangest topics redeemably comforting.
The biggest compliment that I can give this album is the diversity which travels between all sorts of genres but also characters and locations. I enjoyed most of these aspects and I almost never disliked a production ... read more
I’m convinced the creation of this song has halted the evolution of our biology and technology for our species by another 100 years.
Pretty uninspired singing and terrible lyrics. This isn’t an anthem. Also we got blessed with some MORE Jack Antonoff synth work 😭 please hop out of the studio lil bro. The way Sabrina says mf pisses me off too it’s like she’s tryna be Lana Del Rey. And whichever engineer decided that the hook needed to be THIS squeaky and pitched is getting fed to my dog. And my final say just needs to be directed at the verses for their terribly un-ironic writing and childish sentiments ... read more
This title lol. She’s so funny. New tracks go just as hard as the original ones. This is generational.
Was so fire that within only three listens I impulsively bought the vinyl.
A dazing dance journey of struggling in the industry and making all the wrong decisions. These songs are all coated in such a fantastic booming production. From the dulcet slow songs to the abrasive party hits Charli has never sounded this successful in her experimental sound.
Most of these songs are brilliant, all of the singles sound just as good in this track list’s context and provide a magnitude of ... read more
Extremely heavily produced with coats of drums and layers of vocals that form two of the most danceable songs from BRAT.
Von dutch is a self absorbed Electropop rager that sounds like it was designed to be played in the car. The bass on the ascending and descending synthesizer patterns sounds like tires on a racetrack and that's really the sonic space this song is aiming for. As the song builds up to its climax it intensely grasps the listener for the impactful drop that hits amazingly. Something Von dutch does well is being a diss-track (which doesn't take a genius to guess who it is aimed at lol), I can say the ... read more
Bro no one gonna forgive you, this is NOT even an apology. It's more listenable than the first one but I still hate it. Oogway proves he's just taking the piss too by saying it at the end. Having to openly display confederated beliefs to get clicks is insane.
BADBADNOTGOOD knows how to write a groove insanely well. The Mid Spiral series is a really excellent collection of production that is sadly sabotaged by simplicity and diversity. A notable example of this is Taco Taco, like what even is this song when you think about it. Mid Spiral does find themselves going weaker in the second project with that bad middle half but also great ending, and I think that the first one is the most laid back and forces the group to play their instruments with their ... read more
I don't really mind that the whole album sounds like it was captured on a tape recorder even if sometimes that is that reason why Chaos Angel is not reaching its full potential. Maya Hawke is a really good singer and I like her writing from time to time but there are low moments like Okay which could have been amazing if anything different was said on it. The ideas are a little bit too abstract for my taste at times and I can't tell if they're trying to strike my funny bone or be introspective ... read more
Meechie and Beno! suck ass this is actual trash how are y’all legitimately gna defend this. Not ONE good song. My favourite moments were probably the cool riffing on DeathLOK and the Yachty feature. I’m serious not one song here isn’t an obnoxious codeine induced coma. Nearly as bad as The Chainsmokers EP.
Around about when lockdown first hit the world I used to listen to a lot of Raveena’s music and she would be in the rotation very often. I was a bit of an amateur music listener at the time and as I matured I realised she was an excellent musician but didn’t have any amazing EP’s or albums. I will give her credit for expanding my taste as I got older because it opened me up to a string of Indian artists like her. The new rotation of singles that Raveena has been releasing has ... read more
