This is DEATHLY overrated
The production on this is really dated. Some of these beats sound empty asf. And it’s the same tone of rapping on nearly every song. Unless it’s Ice Cube hollering on Dopeman lmfao
I’m only doing these guys’ discog because of tracks like the first two on this record making them some of the most iconic rappers at the time, and the most notorious of ALL time. And for good reason! Straight Outta Compton and Fuck The Police are still hard asf! But ... read more
Great ending to a great discog
Not only is this album really funny (I have no idea what was happening on Makes No Sense At All) both of them just bring a lot of great charisma to this album. The jazzy, soulful production helps that too. It sounds exactly like the album cover looks lmao
Lyrically, this obviously isn’t their best. But songs like The Train and Hollywood Divorce makes this easily a worthwhile listen. I haven’t watched the movie, but the experience of listening to this ... read more
3 songs that show Charli is talented at 99% of the parts of pop she touches
Hello goodbye is a great emotional song, Guess is.. well she’s never made a song like it lol, and Party breakers is a confident party track
Not much to say. All great songs. This was such a great rollout wow
The deluxe tracks are better than some of the standard songs
Fav was How Can I Not Know What I Need Right Now
Welp, we came full circle. Charli’s back to making my favorite pop albums of all time
There’s really nothing to complain about here. Charli has her best vocals of any project she’s made on here, the best production, some of her most vulnerable lyrics, and her most unique sound yet. She takes the experimentation of Pop 2 and combines it PERFECTLY with the old club sound that was the foundation of her oldest work being so good. This project sounds more Charli than the project ... read more
Well this is 100% my favorite Outkast project no debate
No other one of their projects has made me feel like this. I'll begin with Speakerboxxx.
Stankonia had some of their funkiest work yet. Speakerboxxx KNOCKS that out of the park with songs like Bowtie, Church, Church, Church.. oh and GhettoMusick! The features on this whole side all HIT, and the lyricism is easy to let go over your head.. but it's good
And The Love Below. This is the best concept album I've heard this ... read more
Lwk I think they actually meant to make the previous SNZNs mid so this would be the perfect ending
From the lively production of, the amazing instrumental breaks, the Christmas sounds trailing everything, and Rivers successfully sounding dramatic for the first time in a while. This was done GREAT.
I especially love the song titles and how well they’re matched by almost EWBAITE level riffs in the instrumentation. Iambic Pentameter? Dark Enough to See The Stars? The Dark And Dreamless ... read more
Not bad, but could be better
I feel the way they talk about pain on this record ends up sounding more edgy-Tumblr-esque than artistic. The punk direction they take here has pretty good highs (like that beautiful solo before the end of Run Raven run) but also ends up giving us songs like Tastes Like Pain. Which isn’t that good lmao the symbolism just falls flat.
They also don’t seem to know if they wanna do pop rock or not, so we also get What Happens After You which is trying to ... read more
Another volume complete!
Wanted to complete this as fast as Vol. 2 but didn’t. Despite that, it was still a fun listen. Very funny songs here. As far as things this volume did that previous ones didn’t.. hm.
I noticed there were a lot of lyrics about nature here. Fits the green cover! You hear him talking about the ocean a lot, and about the environment.
There’s no big production differences, other than what I mention in the next paragraph. I find that whenever he’s ... read more
There is truly no other hiphop that makes me feel like this
Outkast, no matter how much they sound like they are, are never tryhards for their conscious rap sound. That's why we got Stankonia They're just doing what they love!
This album is loosely tied together by southern funk ballads about love, failed love, hoes, fake shit, all the likes. That's why I think this stands out the most in their discog so far. It feels like them really honoring their roots while also giving it a ... read more
Another great conscious hip hop record from OutKast
I don’t really have to explain why I like this since everyone has already made the points I would make but there is something with this album that was super funny. Literally every song sounded wayyy better after relistening off a phone call with better audio quality. Especially Slump. Man. That song shocked me. The whole album did! The last song especially had one of their best beats rapped over yet, taking ATliens into account lmao. ... read more
Do you even like rap if E.T. didn’t make you double take on first listen
God fucking damn this is just great. From Andre’s creativity, to the overall just way above above average flows both of them bring, to.. whatever drugs are in that title track. AND that BEAUTIFUL run from Millennium to Growing Old. Holy shit. Growing Old is the best song they’ve made so far. Or is it ATliens? Maybe Elevators? Possibly E.T?
Maybe this is just peak and everybody knows, so what’s ... read more
Hell yeah
Good gangsta rap is something that may seem common but is really far between lmao. Records like this remind myself of that.. because this is hella good
OutKast, for plenty of songs, sort of sounds like your average gangsta rappers. Great beats, tough cadence, weed bars. It’s nothing revolutionary, but it gets the job done. It reminds me of Snoop. Then you hit the title track and DAYUM. This production was sort of ahead of its time lmao. And the hook is catchier than a lot of ... read more
Great EP!
It takes a direction that was much needed from the Spring EP - something that actually sounded new. I’m not saying they’ve never done power pop. But the sound they did here uses a different actually new type of production that makes weezer sound like more than the “washed” 90s band lmfao
You can say that the songs here sound like the art of an old person and are reminiscent of Red, and I’d agree honestly. But the almost cinematic twist to songs like ... read more
Yeah im never coming back to this
I don’t like folk rock so I didn’t expect anything good with this series but damn. This is underwhelming. It takes the happiness of Raditude and js makes it forgettable flower frolicking music. What makes any of these songs unique
I like The Sound of the Drums slightly more than everything else, but this album just isn’t all that. I mean EP. Fuck
It’s THE pretentious music enjoyer album. I have to rate it a 10/10! Plus it’s genuinely perfect to the point where it does deserve that rating
Since im going to get into Glam Rock as a genre eventually, idk if its bad that I did not fully like listening to this lmao
Not a bad album, and a nice diversion from the pop rock formula, but some of these songs just do not affect me like other of Weezer’s works. Sure, they’re loud, and catchy, but.. Hero ends up setting the example for the entire album and only 3 tracks follow it perfectly.
I fuck with Hero, The End of the Game, and Beginning of the End the most
Good listen.
Holy shit this is good
Weezer makes a more orchestral album.. and it succeeds. REALLY. His vocals are REALLY good on this. He locked the fuck in
I’ve been spending too much time thinking about what to say so ima just say everything. Numbers is beautiful. Aloo Gobi has the somewhat casual but still great singing tone that makes indie-ish music like this feel personal. Grapes Of Wrath is a fun song with an undertone that sort of feels.. dismissive. This whole album does. Truly sounds like ... read more
Not bad!
Once again.. the rating made me expect complete shit. It has a couple songs that just don’t have good writing or an interesting sound, like Zombie Bastards, Living in LA, and Piece of Cake. And this album definitely doesn’t sound “dark” like the tag on this site and album cover suggests. However.. it does have the sound he did on I’m Just Being Honest which is BY FAR the best song here. The delivery of the first verse especially and the simple but ... read more
It’s literally just a covers album.
It’s my first one, and based on the ratings, I expected MUCH worse. They did (mostly) every song fine! What’s the issue?
It’s not that people have a bias against people who cover MJ; The Weeknd covered him with DD and everybody (including me) loves that! The No Scrubs cover is the only thing here I can understand disliking lol. Why tf did Rivers cover ts and why does he sound nasally half the song
The Africa cover is the best one ... read more
