Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
87

This is a mastapeace, babeeee. It's going in the BIG BOI category in my hip hop category, but it's just below Super Feldman Bros 2: The Angelic Core, sorry! Alright now that I've officially made mockery of debateably one of the most important albums and quite possibly pieces of art of our generation, I will officially bring another rest to the Dunkey jokes. But much like Dunkey jokes, there is truth to my word as there is to his, because truthfully this album is very very very very very very ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city

Wow, Jesus that was a jump in quality. After recently re-listening to Section .80, this was actually a huge improvement on that album on almost every conceivable level. And I'm not even fucking around, seriously that good.

Let's start off with what I think was the most obvious improvement going into this album. The production, is insanely good on this album, a lot more instrumentals and variety in every single beat in this album. Even the least interesting one, Poetic Justice still has it's ... read more

Edit: Realized I will not be returning to most of the songs on here, or the album as a whole so that lessens the score by 7 points, by itself.

You know some friends of mine think that a 72 is a low score? Whew, I'm so glad that everyone on this site is a lot more reasonable. Anyways, this is Kendrick Lamar's debut attempt at an album and is now officially the first full length album of Kendrick's discography I've heard, directly after putting it on my to listen and review list(I know I'm way ... read more

Kid Cudi - Rap Hard (The Demo Years)
NR

Not even gonna give this one a rating, cause there's nothing to rate here. It's a demo reel just trying to show the world what Scott Messcudi could do. Some pretty ammature production alongside, the surprisingly alright sounding Kid Cudi just leave me thinking it's best long forgotten, and more seen as a stepping stone for Cudi to enter the music world. It's also littered with skits along 12 tracks. 3 of em'. I don't really know how to elaborate, it's fine for what it is.

I don't think I've ever been as anxious to listening to an album than this one. Basically the only full Cudi project I have never listened to. I came into it expecting a disasterpiece, but at the same time hopeful, as the few positive reviews I've read seemed to really enjoy. And as Cudi fan myself, I thought, How Bad could it be?'..... and I think I'm more confused than I was coming out of satellite flight. Like seriously how could album be so boring, yet so interesting and mysterious, ... read more

Kid Cudi - Leader of the Delinquents

Pretty goddamn bangin' track from the cuddster himself, really only let down to me by the much edgier tone in his voice than I'm used to. Not a bad thing, and a nice change but still doesn't work out perfectly for me Other than that, while the beat isn't one of his strongest ones still fits the song really well and accommodates well with his godly flow on this track. I don't know if this is apart of Entergalactic and how it'll fit with the rest tracks on that LP, but still really exited. Really ... read more

Uncle Dane - DARN.
100

Consider this an unironic review of two things. Double review of sorts.

DARN. was made by a fairly popular TF2 youtuber going by the name of Uncle Dane, who made this, surprise surprise TF2 inspired parody album. And you know what? It's pretty DARN. good for what it is. While I don't think that Uncle Dane isn't exactly the most impressive vocalist out there or what I'd call great, the production being fine enough across the board, but I can't help but be amazed at how dedicated he is to this ... read more

Kid Cudi - A Kid Named Cudi

The mixtape that started it all... and it's aged really well, still a great listen to this day. It's really funny to imagine that all of the other albums came from this single mixtape that caught the attention of Kanye, just really crazy to me. While I don't find this to be one of his most interesting or even his best works, it's still a really great debut for just some kid from Cleveland.

Of course this being the first real attempt at music, I really didn't expect much and I got slightly ... read more

I... really like this album? I'm sorry, it's just I'm very confused on how I feel about this album. Which is a first considering that on every subsequent relisten, I always solidify my feelings on albums and more specifically, Cudi albums. This one sure is a strange one. I mean it's good, but in a way where I don't know what I'm going to feel about it a year from now. But what I do know for now is that this is a really good, albeit very flawed album.

Starting off with the positive, I think the ... read more

Kid Cudi - Surfin'

Not exactly my personal favorite on the album, but still a great song, energetic and a little uplifting with really interesting choices for instrumentals which pay off in the long run and the feature with Pharell Williams is pretty great. The lyrics are god awful though and goddamn is it lonnnnggg.

Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager

A fourth run through of this album, and I gotta say, having listened to the first album more thoroughly and listened to the other albums as well, this has shrunk on me a little. I initially felt as if it was a master piece, and Cudi's best album like maybe up to half a year ago, but now I see it slightly differently.

And that probably means it fucking sucks, 0/10.

Terrible stolen Dunkey jokes aside, this is still a fantastic, albeit less water tight to the debut album. Carrying over from ... read more

I don't know if it's just because of the times we're in with Covid-19, and I'm just so mentally exhausted but this album has really grown on me. Unbelievably so in fact. First time I listened to it I just gave it pretty big 'the fuck is this?', and moved on with my life. Now coming back it's honestly a very interesting and abrasive(in a good way) take on experimental hip hop.

To begin, I think it's great to start off with the solid placements of tracks throughout the album. Not IGOR levels ... read more

Jack White & Alicia Keys - Another Way to Die

Alright I'll say it, Quantum of Solace was a good James Bond movie and this featured songis pretty goddamn great.

Childish Gambino - This Is America
90

Surprising hit, I really didn't expect to enjoy it but it's surprisingly amazing. Unlike most political rap songs, I think this one will age really well because A) The song itself is really good with solid production, great flow from Gambino himself and lyrics that say a lot, without saying a lot B) The song jells perfectly with the video and wouldn't be nearly as widely acclaimed without it, adding on so many layers to be explored and C) The issues present are ones that are both on going and ... read more

Childish Gambino - Bonfire

Holy shit this song is fucking hilarious and I'm genuinely confused as to whether or not that was intentional. While the beat gives off the impression that this is something that's supposed to be taken seriously, Glover's off rapping about making the beat retarded and calling it a slow jam. It's these two things that truly conflicting things that butt heads together throughout most of the song yet despite that, it's pretty good. And I mean the lyrics are so ridiculous it's hard to forget them ... read more

Just finished this album for the third time, and I have made the bold assumption that... this is a night time vibing album, and probably his best one at that(if you forget MOTM and possibly MOTM ll). Crazy I know, hot take if you will. All jokes aside this is a pretty great album.

Starting off with the positives, I think that the production on this album has a fantastic sense of variety, with lots of synths, basses, drums and even reggae inspired on By Design, that leave this album with ... read more

Taylor Swift - You Need To Calm Down

Not good by any stretch of the imagination and gives me vibes akin to Logic's horrendous 1-800 track, but it's alright. Lyrics could use a lot of work and the vocals are uninspired but really the production saves it from being just plain bad.

Run The Jewels - Get It

Run The Jewels - Oh My Darling Don't Cry

Seems stupid to give this a 100, but I really can't give it anything lower. Has one of my favorite beats from RTJ, bars go so hard on it and the lyrics are perfect in the trademark RTJ way for me personally. Always come back to this track in particular from RTJ2

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

While it's overplayed to a certain degree and most people I talk to act like it's the best song ever made, which annoys me but to be honest I can see why. This is one of those songs where despite being heard too much, I still kinda love.

"I dislike Taylor Swift and her music as much as the next AOTY user and this might be hyperbole, but I don't think the point of this song was to END HOMOPHOBIA ONCE AND FOR ALL!!! but more just making fun of the bigoted morons that genuinely think that it's ok to dislike someone based on who they're attracted to. Not saying she's a lyrical genius or that this song is even that good, just wanting to put my two cents out there and say that the artist isn't promising or even wants to promising shit by making a song on a touchy subject like this."

"No people aren't "haters", you have the fucking problem. Firstly, just because people don't like your shitty XXXTENTACTION album doesn't mean they're just haters because they might actually have constructive criticism to offer and secondly, what the fuck do you mean make your own album? People don't have to make their own album if they don't want to listen to this shit. There are actually talented artists that people can listen to and if they would even have the ability to make their own music, I don't think they would even be making these reviews because they would be busy composing their music that's infinitely better than this record. There are so many things wrong with these two very short sentences you posted. Your complete ignorance astounds me."
