Not even gonna give this one a rating, cause there's nothing to rate here. It's a demo reel just trying to show the world what Scott Messcudi could do. Some pretty ammature production alongside, the surprisingly alright sounding Kid Cudi just leave me thinking it's best long forgotten, and more seen as a stepping stone for Cudi to enter the music world. The mixtape that started it all... and it's aged really well, still a great listen to this day. It's really funny to imagine that all of the other albums came from this single mixtape that caught the attention of Kanye, just really crazy to me. I... really like this album? I'm sorry, it's just I'm very confused on how I feel about this album. Which is a first considering that on every subsequent relisten, I always solidify my feelings on albums and more specifically, Cudi albums. This one sure is a strange one. Not exactly my personal favorite on the album, but still a great song, energetic and a little uplifting with really interesting choices for instrumentals which pay off in the long run and the feature with Pharell Williams is pretty great. The lyrics are god awful though and goddamn is it lonnnnggg.
A fourth run through of this album, and I gotta say, having listened to the first album more thoroughly and listened to the other albums as well, this has shrunk on me a little. I initially felt as if it was a master piece, and Cudi's best album like maybe up to half a year ago, but now I see it slightly differently.

I don't know if it's just because of the times we're in with Covid-19, and I'm just so mentally exhausted but this album has really grown on me. Unbelievably so in fact. First time I listened to it I just gave it pretty big 'the fuck is this?', and moved on with my life. Now coming back it's honestly a very interesting and abrasive(in a good way) take on experimental hip hop.

While the beat gives off the impression that this is something that's supposed to be taken seriously, Glover's off rapping about making the beat retarded and calling it a slow jam. Not good by any stretch of the imagination and gives me vibes akin to Logic's horrendous 1-800 track, but it's alright. Lyrics could use a lot of work and the vocals are uninspired but really the production saves it from being just plain bad.
Seems stupid to give this a 100, but I really can't give it anything lower. Has one of my favorite beats from RTJ, bars go so hard on it and the lyrics are perfect in the trademark RTJ way for me personally. Always come back to this track in particular from RTJ2
While it's overplayed to a certain degree and most people I talk to act like it's the best song ever made, which annoys me but to be honest I can see why. This is one of those songs where despite being heard too much, I still kinda love.
