Despite having a pretty wide array of songs to choose from, almost all of them have their own little places on the album which is the best thing I can say about it. Dealing with very topics like police brutality, the state of the class gap and other heavy topics such as those. The beats are of course fantastic from producer El-P all of them having their own kind of flare to each and every song. This is all helped by Killer Mike's and El-P's good ass rapping, especially Killer Mike. One of the ... read more
I might be in a very small minority when I say I really dislike this song. Almost hate it. I don't like the lyrics, the glossy and shallow beat, the 'catchy' singing or anything really. It just sounds awful to me. Anyone has the right to disregard my opinion altogether cause I can't explain it anymore than that.
Literally no words. Absolutely perfect. Vocals, pacing, instrumentals, subject matter in the lyrics, combined tone and atmosphere the perfect song for me personally. I love this song to death.
Masterpiece, lyrically doesn't have the most depth but still has something to say, no complaints but compliments other wise. Despite this there is only one other song I think from the same album is SLIGHTLY better.
Doing sort of a redux on this review so yeah.
My original review for this album to me is outdated because I've changed my opinion(yes, they do that) for a slightly lower score. 3 points to be specific, but why? Well, to be perfectly honest, who the hell cares? An 84 is still a very high score and shouldn't be overlooked in the slightest. Initially when I first listened to this album I realized I fell in love with it and thought that it really deserved more praise than it got, the tracks hit ... read more
I kinda like this one more than his other album, IGOR. This one to me feels a little more consistent than that one and adheres to a style I like a little more(meaning I like how edgy and weird he can be with songs like WHO DAT BOY but then reel it back a bit with See You Again and break up albums won't be my thing until I have a really bad break up). I can't really explain it more than that. I just love listening to this album a lot. Maybe with some more listens I'll be able to understand why I ... read more
I feel a little embarrassed to say I may have chuckled here and there to the album, but honestly I feel even more embarrassed to even say I don't think this album is that bad. Yeah, yeah maybe the only REALLY good song is the first one and maybe the humor and vocals can be god awful at times I still can sort of look past it cause the songs at worst sound horribly bland. There are instances where Lil Dicky's style really works especially with that first song. But yeah. It really isn't THAT bad.
Edit: Doing another re-review, but imma keep this short.
I think it's fair that at this point, I can call this my favorite album of all time. I mean granted, I may not have listened to the astronomical amount of albums a lot of you may have and thus, makes me unable to decide my favorite album of all time without some questions of the album's quality and my credibility as a reviewer being raised, but still I just can't find anything I dislike about this album. As I've mentioned before, The ... read more
