Stormzy's "This is What I Mean" is a record that I knew would be polarising before it dropped, due to the lack of formidable bangers in the rollout of soft and downbeat singles (a hard sell for those who get the most enjoyment out of Stormzy's grime and trap material).
He's been no stranger to showcasing his love for R&B and neo-soul but they've been often shoulder-to-shoulder with other genres, so there was always that versatility to shake things up and appeal to different ... read more

Kelela’s back! Ironically, I remembered her a couple of days before hearing “Washed Away”, hoping that she’ll be coming out with new material in the near future.
“Take Me Apart” was a great debut release and given that it’s been 5 years since, I’m really interested to see where her mind is sonically at now and how her sound’s evolved.
As a single, I’ll get my nitpicks out the way - “Washed Away” does take a while to get ... read more
