A throwback synth pop record that is a perfect 2nd part of this trilogy. The transition are great, and my hot take would be that this is probably his a top 3 album of Abel's.
A great body of work from Metro Boomin. Standout performances all over the project from Don T, Travis, Future, and 21. My #1 song has to be Metro spider though, Thug's flow is peak asf.
Denzel's best work. A super concise and lyrically dense project, with SOTY contenders like Melt Session #1 and Walkin.
The Forever Story is a no-skip masterclass from one of the most gifted lyricists of this generation. JID’s storytelling is razor-sharp, and his flow-switching is next level—he moves between perspectives and pockets like few others can.
Christo’s production gives the album a cinematic feel, with lush beats and layered arrangements that perfectly complement JID’s vocal acrobatics. Every song contributes to the larger narrative, but tracks like “Raydar,” ... read more
This one is rough around the edges, but it has some great Thug performances and some great feature appearances. Oh You Went ft. Drake and Jonesboro are two peak Thug songs.
Although not a top tier alternative psych rock project, it is one of the surprising and impressive projects I've ever heard. The Black Seminole is a top 10 song of the year, sounding like prime Pink Floyd. Boat is building up excitement for his artistic evolution
The most consistent lyrical showing by Drake in a while. The multi syllable rhymes are peak, and the charismatic/funny lines are very stand out. Along with his "most dominant rapper bars" which are great as expected. You Broke My Heart is the perfect high energy closer, it is like a big F U!
A scary 30 song album from Sir Cartier. Tons of boring songs, and just a bloated album. But I understand what this album is going for, so the many highlights make this a good album. HBA, Like Weezy, Evil Jordan, Rather Lie, Wake Up FIlthy, Trim, and We Need All Da Vibes are all some amazing 2025 songs
I don't get it....... If you're going to listen to this you have like 35 new songs from Carti that are much better. His vocals are bad on the ears, and the mixing isn't good. On an album that is supposed to be carried by vibe and production having the mixing be bad is just a recipe for disaster
One of the best rap project this year. Just a great collab that was expected with these 2 guys.
Hurry Up Tomorrow is one of the greatest albums I’ve ever heard—more than just music, it plays like a cinematic experience and a lyrical odyssey. The Weeknd masterfully blends narrative depth with sonic ambition, crafting a story that touches the soul while expanding his artistic legacy.
With 22 tracks, it could’ve easily felt bloated, but instead, it flows with precision and purpose. The transitions are seamless, often feeling like scene changes in a film rather than song ... read more
An amazing project to honor Mac. Even in 2025 it sounds modern, and has some of the best tracks of this year. Stoned and 5 Dollar Pony Rides especially. A huge contender for an AOTY list so early on
A nice listen. Very experimental. His versatile vocal range is super refreshing!
Not a horrible collection of songs, but unnecessary with bad curating. Short emotional and sonically cohesive projects would honor his legacy much better, while giving his fans what they want.
His best work. Nice sounding lyrical rap over some soul samples. Kinda sounds like a young Cole, with this one being a modern version of The Warm Up
The 2024 AOTY. CHROMAKOPIA didn't bring anything new to the table, but it's a perfect mix of his last 3 albums w/ super introspective and vulnerable writing.
Like 3-5 amazing absolute bangers, but a very unnecessary mixtape with a bad skip ratio. He gets a pass bc he dropped the two Metro tapes
