I don't see this album spoken about much on comparison to the first three black sabbath albums but it absolutely should be, the sound feels like a combination of master of reality and self titled which is very welcome. The guitar riffs are near perfection on vol 4 especially in the first track which is one of the best sabbath songs (so far) in general overall pretty underrated album with a little filler holding it back
really good album but it gets a bit repetitive and some of the tracks are too long for their own good except for the last song which I think would do great as a full song
This is how I imagine sleep token sounds like based on never actually hearing sleep token
Good beats and flow but the lyrics aren't much to write home about but I can see this guy having a future if he does less derivative stuff
EDIT: 57→52 after listening to the 3 talking heads albums that preceded remain in light and liking them all more than this I thought I was ready and I would like this more now. I was wrong after know how good this band can do this seems more disappointing these tracks are mostly a slog to get through and seem disjointed. I like born under punches a lot more tho so that's cool
Original review:
What the fuck lmao. This is one of the most disappointing albums I've ever heard. I ... read more
A revised version of their first album with the kinks worked out and new elements to make it stronger more grounded and less of the "quirky" sound that I tend to dislike but still has enough weirdness to be a talking heads record
I like the improv tracks but they overdo it on this especially because it's a new wave record and it has some of the best KC new wave songs then instantly transitions to the instrumental tracks
Maybe if David Byrne could be normal for 5 seconds this would be better although normality isn't in this bands rulebook
Incredibly fun and entertaining punk which is unapologetically rude and revolutionary which just happens to be one of the most influential and important punk albums of all time
Good but even at 40 mins it drags towards the end and has a little bit basic of a dream pop sound
Ok can we stop pretending timothees verse is actually good like I get it as a joke it's esdeekid twice but some of you guys are concerning me
Not only is the vocalist insufferable but I find the dancey industrial instrumentals repetitive and boring at times other than ring road which is butchered by said vocalist I can't help but laugh about some of these utterly stupid or cringe lyrics. Although the final track which is my favorite kind of moves away from this character that the singer and the ceaseless samey sounds of it all it turns out to be actually not bad and in my opinion is a direction the band should be moving in
One of the most boring lazy uninspired pieces of shit I've heard besides the bland production NF brings around 0 good lyrical performances and sounds like Tom MacDonald half the time and ruins himself even more with weird unnecessary vocal effects and things along those lines and whines like a baby about his haters on GIVE ME A REASON the most atrocious song on here the only reason this is even this high is the track HOME which is still a boring pop song but doesn't really do too ... read more
decided to give talking heads another chance after the disappointment that was remain in light and i don't regret it. fear of music feels much less messy and much more dancey which is a problem with the supposedly groovy remain in light these songs actually have a well executed purpose fear of music also goes into a more post punk vibe than remain in light while still being fun overall a much better experience than remain in light
Absolutely breathtaking. Feels like you're floating through each expansive soundscape that this album creates so effortlessly. I had to listen to this one twice in a row because of how almost entranced I was with this album. He manages to touch on such a wide variety of electronic genres and still make them cohesive and fit on one album take for example the song Rodl Glide starts out with an ambient piece that you might hear in a lofi beats to study to type video then throws you into a ... read more
