i went into town today and went to hmv to buy some things. i got a moon shaped pool and oknotok on cd and then after my friend requested we go into oxfam (a british charity shop) to look at the music in there. This one specifically specialised in music and had countless vinyls and cds. I found Damien Rice's "O" on the shelf as one copy by complete chance and bought it for £1.99, simply because it looked cool. and holy SHIT this album was stunning. Im so glad i judged a book ... read more
This album had a really rocky start for me. the first couple of songs (excluding burn the witch) were pretty okay, like pablo honey level okay. But from 'glass eyes' onwards, the album was spectacular, the final 4 songs especially were all 90/100 or above. genuinely redeemed the album hard. surprised me that this album was this good considering how late in their discography and out of rhythm it was. having released 5 years after the king of limbs (their lowest rated album since pablo ... read more
underrated lil ep from laufey. seriously surprised me. despite being a heartbreak album targeted at teenage girls, it was a great listen. i thought that it was a really authentic but modern take on jazz pop and bedroom pop. definitely gonna listen to bewitched at some point :p
Wow this album was beautiful. It was cohesive and enjoyable. But almost too cohesive. Like it was lacking in difference in songs. The songs are all very similar. However that doesn’t alter my rating as this album was stunning. Very beautiful vocals and guitar from Nick Drake. Will definitely be listening to his entire discography at one point.
This album was great. It’s definitely better than MMT imo. But this was great yeah. Some of the songs sort of pissed me off like they felt like kinda bad and boring. For instance doctor robert really annoyed me idk why. It has some bangers on this album tho so cohesively and as a whole it’s a 89/100.
This album is pretty decent. Some of the songs are WEIRDDD as hell. But some are genuinely close to being in my top 10 beatles songs. I am the walrus, penny lane and strawberry fields forever just hit different. All the other songs are 6-8/10
I think that people rate this album too harshly. Despite its unnecessary amount of songs with the word 'you' being in it, its not that bad of an album. Thinking about you and Prove yourself were the worst on the album. They aren't inherently bad they're decent but god you can tell its their debut album. The best songs were you and vegetable. Not as bad as people rate it at an average of 61 tho. very harsh.
Despite having listened to their entire discography before, I want to relisten to the entire beatles discography and rate each album. I started with Sgt. Peppers as I had it on CD and fancied it. Solid album. I used to think this was my favourite but im doubting myself. I'm not really sure. It's definitely their most unique and interesting album with influences from psychedelic pop and indian sound. Some of the songs noise threw me off slightly but i still listened through and it was ... read more
This album is a fantastic accumulation of hectic jazz fuzion, country and other additions. It is a great album. It's also enhanced when watching the show. However, this album stands alone as a fantastic album.
I can definitely hear the increase in production quality from their previous albums. I think this album was solid and had some bangers on it. My favs were “Cut your hair” and “Gold Soundz”.
I’m not a HUGE fan of men I trust, but I did like this album. It was inoffensive and easy to listen to. Some of the songs were catchy and I already knew them previous to listening to the album. Tree among shrubs is a beautiful song. That’s probably my favourite on the album. I think a problem I had with the album is that a lot of the songs sound quite similar. None of them are necessarily bad songs, but they suffer from being kinda similar in some cases. This of course isn’t ... read more
This album is respectable because of how early days and how little budget was provided for this album. The production quality is lacking in several places throughout the album. However, I think it created a style that began pavement and I respect it as an album that began their journey. There are also honourably good songs that are 100% playlist adds like “zurich is stained”. I respect it. This is like Pavement’s “Pablo Honey”
This album is a great culmination of the weird, mundane and uncaring lyrics that Pavement are loveable for with an i'd say, pretty high production quality. I thought this was album was really chill and easy to enjoy. Some songs drag on and some are a bit less catchy tahn others like date w ikea. overall a great album though.
currently the highest ratest album i have on here. wow. wow. WOW. this album is one of the most cohesively beautiful albums i have EVER fucking listened to. Every single song has purpose and it's the most emotion full and spirited albums i've probably ever listened to. Half of the album is just the final 3 songs (The Place Where He Inserted The Blade, Snow Globes & Basketball Shoes) and it is the best 30 minutes of the album. There were 2 songs on this album that were NOT 10/10s. ... read more
This album was pretty solid. A lot of it was quite experimental but I was patient with it and enjoyed it.
this album is fantastic. It has some really solid and emotional songs. Some of which are quite true to me from years before and it fits together into a fantastic blend. Really solid and fantastic album.
this album was fun. It did it's job effectively at being a fun little jacob collier mashup album. But I think that his admittedly impressive but experimental style of music can be exhausting to listen to and focuses more on music tension and theory as opposed to a comfortable album. It does a fantastic job at being impressively uncomfortable and chaotic, which I really like and respect, but it was a lot at points. There is however, no denying that Jacob Collier is an absolute musical ... read more
