I have heard this album before, but it was the first B-Boys CD that I didn't purchase. (More so because I wasn't really buying CDs in '04.) It was the first album for the trio that I didn't love-love at the time. Don't get me wrong, there are some bangers here, Ch-Check It Out and Triple Trouble being the 2 that stand out the most for me, and Right Right Now Now, An Open Letter to NYC, and Rhyme the Rhyme Well being a few lower-tier bangers imo. It's still a ... read more
I'm pretty sure I have listened to this album in full before, but it's been at least 15 years. As usual for me with Missy, I love her Hip-Hop tracks, but when she leans more into the R&B stuff, she kinda loses me. Usually, the tracks that focus on R&B are at least produced by Timbaland well enough to at least be meh for me. It ultimately will lower the album scores from me, unfortunately. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good album, with two of my top 5 Missy tracks in ... read more
I'm ashamed to admit, as a Wu-Tang fan, that I've never listened to this album in full. I knew 2 of the tracks, but everything else was most likely a first-time listen. It might not be the highs of Forever or 36 Chambers, but there are some bangers here. I was diggin 'the beats, but I think I enjoy the less polished production style myself. Regardless, it's still a great record for me, with Iron Flag being my favourite on the album, and Uzi, Rules, Soul Power, and In The ... read more
This is not new to me, but I haven't listened to it in full for at least 12 years, and it was nice to hear it again. Very consistent, awesome beats from Premier, and the usual chill flow that I love from Guru. I would place this on par with Hard To Earn, but not quite as high as my favourite from the duo, Step in the Arena. Work is easily my favourite track on the record, but there are a bunch of bangers here, Above the Clouds, Royalty, and Moment of Truth being a few more.
Definitely hadn't listened to this before, and I didn't know any of the tracks. I was hoping for it to be at least as entertaining to me as the previous release, No Limit Top Dogg, but I just was not vibing with this one at all. The beats were a bit boring for my taste, and none of the tracks stood out at all; they kind of all meshed together for me. Lay Low is my favourite on the record, but there really wasn't much to pick from imo. It's weird how I never would have ... read more
