Thanks so much for 40 followers, guys! It means so much to me. And to celebrate this amazing achievement, I'm listening to.. uh.. whatever the hell this is! Truth be told, I have never heard of this album before 30 seconds ago. I was intrigued by the "Exotica" genre and decided that for my 40 follower special I would listen to something weird i never would have thought to listen to for any reason ever. Isn't that fun? So this album opens with "Tokio Rush", a really ... read more
Revisit to Album Trade Week 2: @thekitchenfloor
It's probably good I'll relisten at some point
I ain't paying no fucking taxes wtf is this
So this album is pretty cool. It's some hardcore jazzy punk prog with a lot of... interesting screamy vocals that I think were extremely overdone and tastelessly produced. There's a lot of skill here but the screaming just doesn't really do it for me, it's sort of fun but I just don't like how they made it sound, really. There are a lot of super cool musical moments here, though, like on the opener, "The Carriage ... read more
Oh lord, I'm in for a hell of a time, aren't I.
So this album scares me. I've known about it for a minute, and every aspect of it seems as though Satan got ahold of a Swans album and sewed it with human sinew into a fucking kite and flew that during a thunderstorm. Going into this album I'm shivering in my timbers, I'm quaking in my boots, my teeth are chattering and I'm shitting my pants, as Lingua hauntedly sings through the first NINE MINUTE TRACK I'm ... read more
HELP GET MY GOAT OFF THE STREETS
Jesus Christ, so much good rap is coming out this year. This shit goes HARD. Gao is rapping his ass off over some of the loudest, craziest beats I've heard since Exmilitary, this mixtape is batshit, energetic, hard as hell, and has Gao's signature frantic, sludge covered mixing that just feels so good to listen to. Each track is different while still remaining in the swirling tar pit that Gao's music resides in, I just adore this sound so much. ... read more

"I'm not crazy
You guys are crazy
Life's but a loop, and I'm enjoying myself"
Week ten! We sure have been doing this album trade for a sec, it's entering what I believe to be the third or maybe even fourth month and it has been such a fun time. So much music I'd never have even thought to listen to otherwise, some bad, some life-changing. And uh, the first album I'm listening to is this rap album written by uh... a ... read more

So this album intrigued me enough I had to listen to it. From the moment I saw Gao the Arsonist's newest album under the "Highest rated Experimental Hip-Hop Albums of 2026" I decided I needed to know if he had anything that was must hear, and he sure as hell does. "AND THEY MINE FOR OUR BODIES" is an experimental, industrial hip-hop album, it sort of reminds me of Injury Reserve in the way that it reverberated and creates an ambience, ... read more
By Storm's "My Ghosts Go Ghost" is the continuation of Injury Reserve's experimental rap career, after the death of a central member of the trio and the release of "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", a surreal, hyper-experimental hip-hop album that was practically undefinable they waited almost five years to release their next album under the moniker "By Storm". "My Ghosts Go Ghost" is a further exploration into the grief of Injury Reserve's ... read more
"A white woman walked towards me, and our eyes locked to meet
Felt the fear inside the air as she moved to cross the street
Should I blame her for seeing me and picturing me as a threat?
Or the centuries of whipping that's keepin' women in debt?"
Oh, yeah, oh, fucking yeah. This goes hard. It's a mix of hip-hop, some neo-soul, and I can see influences from dance and punk here, too. It's super unique sonically from other hip-hop I've heard, the beats are a ... read more
A Mad Quest to Kill God: Chapter One
God uses this website, and it has 8 albums that the world's creator considers to be perfect. To Pimp A Butterfly is the first. I'm on a mission to listen to every single one of them and, at last, kill God. My hands clench around the gun from IGOR as I tip Gira's hat and ride off with the ghost from The Magnolia Electric Co. I am full of conviction as I listen to this album. THE album, the single album that has ever been made and ever will be ... read more
Album Trade Week 9: @Stupidstorm
I guess I do somewhat enjoy synthpop when the vocals are left untouched. It's not perfect enjoyment, my nose does still wrinkle at times, but I did find myself vibing with this album. It kind of reminds me of Mr Bungle's "California", the vocal style and the funky aspect. It's dark and gothic, too, which sharply contrasts the violently sweet synthpop I've interacted with before. Great stuff. Blue Dress is woefully underrated. ... read more

MICHAEL GIRA IS IN MY WALLS I CAN HEAR HIM IN MY WALLS GET HIM THE FUCK OUT HELP HELP HELP HELP
Ah, Swans. I have an estranged relationship with Swans. I've tried listening to their stuff so, so many times and the only time I've ever actually been able to finish one of their albums was when I listened to Live Rope, an album so weird, so uncomfortable and so horrifying that I don't think I'll ever listen to it casually. And that's ... read more

BIRDS DON'T BIRDS DON'T BIRDS DON'T BIRDS DON'T
More album trade procrastination, baby! I *could* listen to Depeche Mode or Swans right now and get done what I need to but, like, I have all of tomorrow for that, right? Anyways, this album fucking rocks. Fantano knows his shit. "The Birds Don't Sing" is a powerful, unique, incredible opener as we go into "Chains & Whips", a dark and gritty track that ... read more

So I have only tomorrow and today remaining to listen to the last nearly 3 hours of album trade music for this week and you know what? I'm listening to this instead. This powerhouse opens with the absolutely SUBLIME "St. Chroma", one of the actual best rap songs I've heard in a long time. Tyler's voice has always been one of my favorites in rap and IGOR's biggest disappointment for me was the near total lack of Tyler's ... read more

Bro can he spell or 😭
So... this album. I... don't like this album that much. Like, it's good, I suppose, it's well made, it's impressive, but it feels like I'm being given an auditory epileptic seizure. It's really, really overstimulating like the entire time. It's really well put together, really, it's just not the kind of thing I like listening to.
fuck bro life1 is gonna be so good
So Dark Magic is the first single for Quad's upcoming album and it is really good. It's got some crazy atmospheric production, some awesome vocals, Quad's autotune always manages to sound really good despite the trope not being my favorite, and just some masterful work from my boy. I'm so hyped for the album
Yeah, this is way better than The Low End Theory. This thing opens with the absolutely INSANE "The Space Program", that has a killer beat and some amazing rapping, the flows on this track are just amazing and it has some really good samples. Hip-Hop, for me, at least, almost NEEDS to be experimental, wacky, and weird, because that's the appeal for me: rappers playing with flows, rhymes, and rhythm over beats that are strange, wild, and just so great to listen to, and this album ... read more
