Portishead - Portishead

What if Portishead but spooky?

Dorian Electra - My Agenda
51

Being 100% real with you this is a serious back step from their last album. Even though I enjoy the general aesthetic of the album and absolutely love Dorian's delivery on almost every track,it really doesn't explore any new territory that they haven't already shown us. But by far my biggest problem, for the most part the lyrics were incredibly distracting, at their worst range from , poorly aged memes that are hard to listen to without cringing to just fine. Now honestly this isn't that big of ... read more

Jerry Paper - Big Pop for Chameleon World
64

A lot of this thing doesn't really go anywhere to me , but boy. Chameleon World, The Real Feel and Synthesized Mind is a three track run to fuck with. Recommend playing the game that goes alongside this if you have the time and don't mind terrible games.

Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats - UNLOCKED
80

While I might still find it overrated and feel it slips a bit too far into the Doom worship at times, this thing aged incredibly. Overflowing with hilarious lyrics and enough adrenaline to make me feel like I actually got a good nights sleep. it's solid and goes to prove Denzel is here to stay.

Earth - Earth 2: Special Low Frequency Version
82

Less of a musical album, more of a force. It's hard to define the actual feeling of listening, but I think the best way to envision it is to imagine standing right in front of an impossibly large monolith of a building with your chest pressed against the wall by an unkown force , then looking up.

It is not a fun album, it isn't a catchy album, it's a dark and oppressive one. If you're even looking for basic song like structure, it's most likely not for you. But if you want to be crushed by a ... read more

Mary Lattimore - Silver Ladders
76

Beautiful sonic paintings of long off shores under a star filled sky. Easily one of the most beautiful releases of the year.

sleep well. - Graduation Party
39

It's Indie, I really have nothing to say at this stage, it just didn't show me anything that wasn't just a Car Seat Headrest or a Joyce Manor etc. Love the album cover though.

Full Stop - 5.5
Martin - 4
Turn A Page - 4
Me & I & You - 4
I am The One That I Love - 5 (The lyrics on this one are much better)

Dead Famous People - Harry
45

The start of this thing gave me crazy amounts of nostalgia for hanging out with my sister as a kid and I have no idea how they did that, so immediate respect there. The track Dead Bird's Eye is actually beautiful, bringing me right back into that early post-punk feel while yanking at my heart strings, sadly this was the only track that I could really get behind the vocal style on. Though the rest of the release does get fairly repetitive sadly, especially the last few tracks really end up being ... read more

The Lurkers - Sex Crazy
21

Yeah there's not too much here for me I didn't hear a million times when I was 14. Vocals are alright and guitars are cosy though.

Ween - La Cucaracha
68

Quick Ween Rundown #9
So you made it to the final Ween album, well for now anyways, and let me tell you this guy gets a ridiculous amount of hate. Does it really deserve it though? Sort of.. listen, let's be honest the main reason it gets the hate it does is because Ween made fans wait 4 years for this album. So of course after 4 years fans were expecting something miles above anything they'd done before and they just didn't get that. This is Ween at their least experimental and most bland, I'm ... read more

Ween - Quebec

Quick Ween Rundown #8

Yeah this one is just obviously a masterpiece for Ween, there's not a single miss on here. You're completely pulled into their strange warped world the second the frantic metal first track almost blows up your speakers. As a vibe check if you will. But yeah in all seriousness, this is an absolutely fantastic album leaning more into the darkness than just about any other ween release, by far. This was released during Gener's divorce with his wife, and you can feel the ... read more

Ween - White Pepper
89

Quick Ween Rundown #7

This is my least listened to album by far by the boys but damn, I have no idea why. A far more serious Ween step forward for their seventh album, It is often seen a one that you'll love or hate. You'll hear the ones who hate it say that it's boring and repetitive ,barely experimental and nothing at all like the Ween you may know. Some of those descriptions are correct, but in a great way. Yes this album is less experimental, it's not all that goofy for the most part and ... read more

Ween - The Mollusk

Quick Ween Rundown #6

(Before I begin, apologies if this is awful to read, i'm in a bit of a rush today and I really don't really know what's left to say on this thing.)

It's the big one boys, so you'll be excited to know, I have damn near nothing to say, it's all been said. This is widely considered their Opus, and it's hard to argue, everything on this thing is an absolute force of nature. Geaner and Deaner have always been massively into fishing, so I suppose it only made sense to make an ... read more

Ween - 12 Golden Country Greats
74

Quick Ween Rundown #5

Ah, a divisive one. So Ween's second studio album is always a tricky one to talk about as it's just so left field. The boys decided that they wanted to take back some of the stigma that the country genre had gotten in the years prior,(and after really) AKA: People saying " Oh I listen to everything but country" and so on. So they released a full country album, because Ween. Hell I still think that's ballsy as fuck.
On paper it's a bizarre and possibly terrible ... read more

BLACKPINK - THE ALBUM
25

Black Pink! The popular K-pop Group that isn't BTS, I'll be honest with you I'm not too sure why I did this review, I assumed it wouldn't be for me. (So Honestly fans, just skip over it , not trying to piss anyone off) But hell why not just so I can say I tried. This sounds like all my least favorite aspects of mainstream pop music from about 5 years ago. The sampling is generic, production is annoying and sterile and vocals are mixed terribly. Other than that, the songs are fairly run of the ... read more

Quick Ween Rundown #4

So Ween's first studio album. Most often one that is either someone's first or second release from the group. For good reason too, this is far easier to digest, it's experimental, but approachable. But don't let that trick you into thinking that it is any less artful or impressive or that they have somehow "Sold Out". It genre hops with as much ease as any previous release plus through better production quality it transitions between tracks a hell of a lot ... read more

Ween - Pure Guava
86

Quick Ween Rundown #3

Pure Guava, Ween's 3rd and final album before signing to a major label and creating Chocolate and Cheese marks the end of era. The Lo-Fi Ween that you've hopefully come to love at this stage shall be transformed. But the final self produced album is a really special one. It has a bit of everything they've shown they can do. GWS is here, The Pod is here. But all added in with a heaping spoonful of experimentation not really seen on the past releases in this form, plus a ... read more

Ween - The Pod
98

Quick Ween Rundown #2

An absolute sludge-fest fueled by rotting Chinese food forgotten in the fridge and enough drugs to put all the horses in the surrounding field to sleep. Ween's second album named after a small house they were living in at the time that usually smelled of horse shit and weed manages to be the single most impressive example of lo-fi produced black magic I've ever heard. It shouldn't be able to sound even nearly as good as it does. But alas The Boognish smiles upon the boys. ... read more

Ween - GodWeenSatan: The Oneness
76

Quick Ween Rundown #1

Ween's first full release after their numerous demo tapes, is a damn fun one. Unlike their earlier tapes this time they have direction and aren't just aiming to annoy everyone by screaming and singing about dicks.. granted they still do it every now and then but there's direction now!
This is an album that lives and breathes the Ween ethos, possibly more than any of their other releases, it's bold , loud and doesn't give a shit what you think, they're here to play some ... read more
