This is probably the best Twenty One Pilots have been before Trench. I have listened to this one through and through and it was my shit back in like 2018/2019. It used to be my favourite TOP album, hell one of my favourite albums in general. My taste has changed quite a bit though and I would say that I don't like it quite as much as I used to, but I still found it to be decent.
I still have soft spots for some of these tracks, Holding On To You, Semi-Automatic, Migraine, Fake You Out, Guns ... read more
Certainly some good tracks and good ideas, but the singing and the very cheap sound of this album ruins what some tracks could've been.
Best songs: Fall Away, Air Catcher, Friend Please, Isle Of Flightless Birds
Worst songs: Before You Start Your Day, Trapdoor, Johnny Boy
This album is a bit overhated and it's certainly not the worst Twenty One Pilots album. I wouldn't call it good though.
The album has some pretty decent production, and some interesting genre fusions (OMg So ExPeRiMenTuL1!1!). There are numerous times though, where the lyrics are just straight up dogshit. Most of it is whining sbout the radio. I don't think it's as bad as some might say, however it's still pretty bad and I don't really think i can defend it that much.

Listening to this makes me feel nothing. I can't really bring myself to hate this because the backstory behind this album is truly baffling and I understand that it isn't really the fault of The Shaggs that this sounds like how it does. It is quite literally like a 5 year old kid making a shitty drawing and then showing it to their parents. Yes, it looks bad but you can't really hate it because you know that they can't do any better.
That might be a pretty overused analogy but i think it fits ... read more
I wish more of this album was as crazy as "Atlantis to Interzone" or as catchy as "Golden Skans".
This album certainly does feel one of a kind. Klaxons have managed to create a sound that is unique to them and that is something I can appreciate. There's a lot of awkward vocals melodies here, repetitive lyrics and some alright guitar work that, when it works, results in songs like "Golden Skans" and "Two Recievers", which are both pretty fun songs to ... read more
Probably the most chaotic thing these guys have done. These songs do sound kinda samey and the bass sounds a bit too muddy but my god the energy on display here is amazing.
Best songs: "Do It!", "Dead Womb", "If We Don't Make It, We'll Fake It"
Worst songs: "My Love is Shared"
Okay I FINALLY listened to this album fully. It kicks ass. I really got nothing to say.
Oh my god what the actual fuck is this why does this sound so bad? I am not familiar with the original song but this instrumental sounds so fucking cheap and what the fuck is this effect over the guy's voice?
This is a really one-note, stripped back, slow album that reminds me of Coldplay, The Cure, Joy Division and Interpol.
Dreams is such a simple album, yet it somehow manages to be so hypnotic and calming. All of the songs sound extremely similar to each other with similar instrumentals and identical vocal performances, yet despite this it sounds like there's a lot of passion put into this album. The vocals are very pleasant and easy on the ears and plenty of songs here have simple yet catchy ... read more
I'm surprised this wasn't on aoty already considering this was the lead single off of their comeback album and one of their most popular tracks to date.
Anyways, the song has a pretty catchy bassline. I can see why they chose to release this one as a single as it is more accessable than some of their other tracks.
This song took a bit to grow on me because of the chorus with it's somewhat out of place piano and the weird "oooOooh~" vocal melody.
Decent comeback single. Again, ... read more
Yeah this is quite a fun and catchy album. Kinda reminds me of Bloc Party, but with cheaper production.
Most of these songs sound kinda samey, but not really in a bad way, the tracks do follow a formula but the songs do feel distinct enough from each other. These songs have this weird energetic and nostalgic vibe to them that I can't really explain. The tracks that feel the most nostalgic to me are definetly Undercover Martyn, I Can Talk, What You Know and Cigarettes in the Theatre. Those are ... read more
It's so quick and energetic and exciting and fun and good and i love it good album yes
I was recommended by a friend to listen to this a while back and I absolutely hated almost every second of it. This is one of the most boring, forgetable, basic, poorly performed, poorly produced albums I have heard in my life.
The production and the singing here are by far the worst aspects about this one. Gerard sounds like he's in pain the entire time and the guitar work is the most basic shit imaginable.
The closest this album gets to "good" is with the song "Vampires will ... read more
This doesn't go nearly as hard as their debut due to the cleaner production, however I do think that this is still a really solid record.
One thing I can say that this album has over their debut is the maturity. Yeah, the vocals aren't as energetic as in their debut but there aren't some immature moments such as the song "Pull Out" on the last album (Pull Out is a great song though).
Some of the highlights on this album are definetly Government Trash, Cheap Talk, Right On ... read more
