Oh my goodness gracious, thank you Greep my lord for dropping this wonderful album I feel so happy in so long (like a week).
I have been waiting impatiently and excitedly for this album, ever since I first heard Holy, Holy so long ago. I made it a statement to be annoying and over the top with my newfound love for the entity known as Geordie Greep. And good god, this album it's quite incredible and very likely to be a future 10 for me. The jazziness and Latin elements are so nice and the ... read more
I did not expect to enjoy this album as much as I did, considering I'm not very well-versed in MLP and I've last watched that show years ago. But holy shit, it's fucking good. The production is amazing and full of character, the vocals are good too ig, but the main thing that got me really loving it was just how emotional and vulnerable it gets with the lyrics. Just quite shocked with this.
The "first" death metal album and it's made by high schoolers!?!?! Actually fucking insane because the riffs and performances on this are quite amazing and are basically the standard for death metal. Very fucking sick.
Even with their first album, which was also one of the first death metal albums ever it seems, Death proves themselves to be very capable and very talented. The riffs and instrumentation are heavy and while it does sound pretty basic lyrically and what not, it's done very well. However that being said, Scream Bloody Gore is definitely the weakest Death album I've heard so far and the standard death metal lyrics about gore is not to my particular taste.
Holy fuck, Death is genuinely one of the most incredible bands ever. Nearly on the level of Symbolic and potentially a future 10 from me which is crazy. The Sound of Perseverance is a lot more torturous and anguished in sound and sounds exactly like the cover, humans desperately climbing up a mountain in what looks like hell. But digging into the theme and lyrics and you see it's not really like that. It's, as the title suggests, about perseverance in life through all the hardships ... read more
This is it, this is it oh my fucking god. I get it, I fucking get it. Quite possibility THE Death Metal album, and one of the most critically acclaimed albums ever (for good reason). It's just so incredible, Chuck's songwriting is amazing and gets pretty philosophical at a lot of points in the album, the riffs and instrumentation is heavy and so technically impressive, and just holy shit it just sounds like one of the best things to ever grace metal. R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner </3
Finally listened to the sister album of Leaving Your Body Map and god is it good. While I don't like it as much as Body Map, it's still incredibly well made, endearing and heavy, but I find it quite heavier than Body Map which is why I don't think I'll ever love it as much. The writing and history behind this album and Body Map leaves me so intrigued, as with this album I find about a secret message hidden with the release of these albums which just really adds to the ... read more
I'm telling you Agalloch DOES NOT FUCKING MISS. HOLY FUCK THIS IS THE ALBUM FOR THE FALL IM SO GLAD I LISTENED, I LOVE YOU AGALLOCH!!!!!!
Onto the actual album, Pale Folklore is about the Myth of Phaethon, Helios' son who with permission (and warnings) from his father, he is given the chariot for the day. But alas it is too difficult to control for him, causing the chariot to burn and freeze the Earth with disastrous consequences. Leading to Zeus striking Phaethon and the chariot ... read more
I've been so tired and unmotivated to even listen to music because I've been trying to listen to what other people recommend me or forcing myself to slog through huge discographies. And finally, I feel some weight lifting off my shoulders with this Agalloch EP, definitely not as strong as their main studio projects but still quite fucking good. The sound isn't as atmospheric, cold or harsh as The Mantle or Ashes Against the Grain, but it's still wonderfully put together and ... read more
It's so overtly sexual lyrically but god the instrumentation and the vocals make it sound so beautiful. Very nice and lovely to listen to. The only problem is some transitions are rather abrupt and the interludes at the beginning and end don't really need to be there.
Frank Zappa's silly ass thinks he's Weird Al hahahaha. Jokes aside, it's quite good though love the different instrumentation throughout and running at barely more than half an hour long, it's a very fun experience. I also gotta say I fucking love how Zappa looks in the cover god, that moustache and hair is just incredible.
Hypnotic and relaxing. Despite being almost an hour and a half long, I didn't find myself bored with 101: Like the First Pine Cone it's quite cool and makes for pretty good gaming :) As for my first Bull of Heaven, I am quite pleasantly surprised, I didn't really know what to expect other than just droning but having post-rock influences and being ambient is quite nice.
Short and bittersweet. The Lazarus Plot is a short 20 minute emo album with very depressing lyrics and performances that goes from spoken word to a more screamo-esque kind. And the instrumentation has this sort of math rock, post-rock feel to it that I can't help but love. Would recommend people to listen, it's quite cool and underrated.
I left this album hanging ever since I did my first listen to it (on the airplane btw which wasnt a very good idea looking back), but goddamn it’s a grand, depressingly beautiful experience. The riffs and distortion at the start is incredible and my god the vocals, dude is in such anguish holy fuck. And ending it all with what is mainly a piano ballad is insane, I fucking love that so much. I thought tenth sublevel of suicide was depressing but this takes the cake, even if I don’t ... read more
Wow, so uhhh I did not expect this to sound like that... I went in blind as a bat and I immediately got shredded up. But damn it's a really fun, noisy, fast-paced album with vocals I did not expect in the slightest. Very cool album :)
I've been so hyped for this, hearing all the singles and seeing everyone talk about this (and love it). And I gotta say my expectations have been met this is such a nice album to listen to, gets me in such a vibe most other albums wish they could do. It's very fun and dancey synthpop album and for my first Magdalena Bay album I'm very impressed. Leading up to the release of the album, I already expected it to be in my top portion of 2024 albums but my god... It's just too ... read more
Great track, but idk it's missing a lot of the mmph and flair of the previous 3 singles. It feels rather simple compared to those 2 and the performances I didn't like as much either, but hey! I still think on this pace it's likely gonna be aoty for me. :3
