I really, genuinly love 'I Was Named After You'. It will be making it onto mixtapes for the rest of the year. The rest of the album doesn't quite catch up to it. Saying that, her voice is truly astonishing and the songwriting is solid throughout the album. I would struggle to name the song solely from the instrument due to a blatant lack of experimentation and variety in that aspect, still this album is one i can very much see myself returning to when i need to sit back and relax.

I mean i listened to it 3 times last week and i've already forgotten about it

On a record that is so easy to like, but is much harder to love, Lanterns on the Lake create a set of songs that range from the dull (Secrets & Medicine) to the stellar (Swimming Lessons). They have certainly found their sound, but that sound is neither unique or new.
It's hard to deny that they don't have some truly gorgeous melodies and though provoking lyrics, but i just finished the project feeling severely underwhelmed.
Definitely listen to track 3, 5 and 6 though!

In an act of defiance against fans desiring a Dogrel 2.0, Fontaines D.C masterfully adapt their sound while keeping what was so fresh about their debut.
It may not yield the same bombastic energy as it's predecessor, though that just shows how Fontaines D.C have grown to become a household name.
They really could go anywhere from here, and that potential is audible in the record as folk tunes like 'Oh Such a Spring' are followed by thrilling bangers like 'A Hero's Death'. Their production is ... read more
