I love it when Mori works in these louder, more aggressive styles, as I think it fits her vocally much better much of the time, but I just don't much care for this. I mean, it's passable, and it almost works, but for me the biggest disappointment by far is the production. What the fuck is this mixing? Why are Mori's vocals so far above everything going on instrumentally, and why is the instrumental itself so quiet? It's just a strange choice that kills the song for me. It ... read more
Rest in peace, King.
I think one of my biggest regrets in recent times is that I didn't make the time to listen to D'Angelo's music sooner. I rarely write reviews these days, mostly because college keeps me busy enough that even having the time to listen to new music is time that I cherish and don't want to take for granted. That and, well, I rarely have anything new to contribute to the conversation. With that being said, given the circumstances, and given how unnecessarily ... read more
twenty one pilots dropped one of my favorite albums of the year, I'm 13 again
Sabrina Carpenter fascinates me. She's loved by the industry, hated (or otherwise disliked) by the majority of people that use this site, and her music rarely appeals to the crowds that it's supposed to. This album is evidence of that fact. Make no mistake, I love this album cover, everything about it. To me, it's just as bold, humorous, and unashamedly kinky as I've always found her music itself to be. With that being said, the thought of how many children's eyes ... read more

the transition from "she's got a way" to "she got away"? history was made
felt every emotion imaginable while listening and it made me ugly cry you bet your ass this is a 10
Instrumental here is pretty good, even if the production, more specifically, the vocal mixing, could use some work. There's a lot of passion and personality in the vocal delivery, but the rapping itself could be better. I was really into the switch up in the second half, the execution is surprisingly smooth and well done, for the most part. Overall, needs some fine tuning and a bit more work to really reach its fullest potential, but this is a promising beginning. Keep at it!
Sufjan Stevens' music, at least in my experience, seems to be the type that just gets better as you age. I discovered his music pretty early into my music listening journey, probably at about age 14 or so, so about 4 years back, give or take. I believe my first record was "Seven Swans", a minimal but endearing collection of indie folk tracks, with some heavy religious symbolism and themes. It stood out to me for obvious reasons, it's a great record. From there, I jumped to ... read more
My GOATs are washed :(
This sounds like every other Swans album released in the past 10 years. It borders on parody at its worst moments. Swans have never sounded more lacking in creativity or nearly as generic as they do on this record, in my opinion. This is a pretty flaccid and dull experience by the standards of Swans, and at points its attempts at being strange or experimental came across as legitimately laughable to me? Like the opening to "The Merge" genuinely had me cackling, ... read more
I'm SO sorry chat but these boys could drop literally ANYTHING and I would absolutely adore it. This thing makes me happy as hell and it made me cry so yep!
Pretty easily Deftones' masterpiece, at least in my opinion. Some of their most impactful and hard hitting tracks to date, some absolute bangers mixed in with some stunningly dense alt metal tracks, sometimes blending the two in the same track. The production is some of the best of any Deftones album, and the same can be said for the vocals, instrumentals, lyrics, all of it. Phenomenal LP. Goon Squad for life!
