My issue with this album does not come down to its experimentation. I can appreciate artists that are willing to take a sound or a style that's more conventional, and that are willing to twist it into something new or unique to them and their vision. However, where this album loses me is in its complete and utter lack of any musical progression, despite the record presenting compelling elements that could be fleshed out into songs that feel more complete and interesting. There's just ... read more
Every mf track ending with the wind blowing outside like bitch we get it. we are in the cold!!!
Finishing up that last song, sitting with it for a moment, and then going back to "American Teenager"... that's a feeling I can't even begin to describe.

Listened to this for the first time last night, and it's already growing on me so fast. Daft Punk created one of the most effective cautionary messages about the rise of technology and the influence that television has over the world that I've ever heard, through an album or otherwise. There's so much I want to say about it... but I just struggle to find the words to describe it. A misunderstood masterpiece.
The fantastic production and sweet psychedelic instrumentation of "Currents" do a lot to make up for the album's shortcomings, with its biggest flaws being a noticeably weaker second half, and some occasionally poor lyricism. Nonetheless, as mentioned, this album has an amazing sound, and a lot to appreciate about it. Also, did you guys know that Tame Impala is actually just one guy?
Up to this point, this is the most Lana's music has ever affected me. Because while yes, I loved "NFR!" and found plenty to enjoy about "Ultraviolence", for me, they're just no match for how consistent and beautiful this album is. Based on the track ratings, I figured this would be an album that starts out strong, and really dips in quality towards the end, but honestly, I found myself enjoying some of the later tracks here the most. To me, this thing is just one ... read more

A genuinely wonderful project from Vylet Pony. To be perfectly honest, I haven't really been into most of Vylet's earlier work, with my main issues generally coming down to the production, vocals, and inconsistency between records, with some being almost entirely instrumental with only a few vocal tracks, while others are very centered on the lyrics and overall album flow. Beyond this, with many of these earlier records being over an hour long, if I didn't especially enjoy what ... read more
"Glitter" is a solid, if mildly underwhelming record from Vylet Pony. This is my first time being exposed to anything pre-CUTIEMARKS that she's made, and it's certainly an interesting change of pace, for better or worse. While the vocals have remained relatively the same, the instrumentals and general production feels a lot more stripped down and simplistic, kind of bare at points in a way that affected some of these songs negatively, in my opinion. Perhaps this was just a ... read more
Let's start here: it's clear that CALUP loves music and has an undeniable passion for it. That's evident on pretty much every track here, and this was clearly a project made with love, and was at least partially created as a result of the friendships with other artists that CALUP has made over his time on AOTY, and I think that's really cool! My true issue with this project really just comes down to... everything else. Because regardless of whether or not CALUP is passionate ... read more
Here's the thing: I don't think it's THAT bad. This thing actually has some really cool highlights, and I would say that I liked a lot of what I heard here, and of course "Yonkers" is a classic Tyler track and (arguably) one of his best songs to date. With all that being said, though, this thing is kind of a mess. This is a really inconsistent project to me, and while the highs are definitely very enjoyable, the lows are just terrible. Beyond that, this was an album ... read more

Re-listened for spooky season. This is easily one of the best albums I've ever heard, and I think that its esoteric and rather divisive nature only really reinforces how perfect and beautiful this album's themes are, and how perfect this album as an artistic statement is. But also, haha, he went blublublublublu that is silly...
