absolute bangers only from start to finish. my only complaint is that there is a little bit of a lack in cohesion and the album itself feels like more of a collection of singles than one cohesive project, but since it's got seven out of seven hits it doesn't bother me too much. also it's way too short in my opinion, seven songs is barely an album but i'll let it slide because the quality is consistently high enough for me to not really care.
very good! the tracks were kind of samey in the middle but i love the vocal performance, and the tracks on the second half really stood out to me as unique and amazing
It was pretty good, but I didn’t LOVE it the way I expected to based on the singles. What made me not really connect with this album was the kind of false advertising it does. The first two songs are VERY experimental, dipping into kind of club/house music and making very non-traditional pop beats, but after that it feels somewhat generic if you think about it remotely past the surface level. The lyrics and theming are both a return to form for gaga, but the music itself kind of just ... read more
SUCH a great EP!!! Ave Mujica is really quickly becoming one of my favorite girls band anime groups, I love their concept and their entire sound. My favorite song here constantly rotates between Black Birthday, Mas?erade Rhapsody Re?uest, Ave Mujica, and Choir S Choir. The fact that so many songs could be my favorite is a testament to their ability to make hits.
Love this mini album however it's not as good as their previous album. Most of their less favorite songs of mine come from this album but I will say Earth and Water are so unbelievably gorgeous. I love the concept of each member having their own element with their instrument highlighted in the song. although I was a bit confused by Water being Umiri's element since the piano is mostly highlighted in Water. Regardless it's pretty solid but for anyone wanting to get into Ave Mujica ... read more
I feel like it's a little overhated tbh. It's really fun, really dancey, and some of the songs have some pretty cool production. It's nothing mindblowing but there are more than a couple hits that I regularly jam out to. it's truly just fun, and i dont think theres anything inherently wrong with just wanting to make fun music. the reason i'm giving it this score though is because the songs blended together a little too much and didnt feel terribly distinct and different ... read more
i will never listen to this again and i mean that as a compliment. this is the only time ive ever felt actually scared listening to an album. very impressive lyricism, songwriting, and concept in general. very cohesive yet somehow also jarring in a way that feels intentional. reminds me a lot of lana del rey but with less of a pop influence; very reminiscent of NFR but with a more tragic story to tell. fantastic, harrowing, devastating, beautiful, and painfully authentic. great record.
I really like the vocal delivery, and I think the production on some of the songs is pretty interesting! Most of them are pretty run-of-the-mill j-rock which I just so happen to like, but there are more than a few tracks that stood out to me. Will I listen to this all the way through again? Probably not, it's pretty long. But I'll definitely jump around to the songs I really liked, and maybe have a listen all the way through one of the two discs it's separated into on spotify. ... read more
i'm like an entire day removed from when i actually listened to it but i remember liking it!
great concept, but to me spring and summer are the only true hits. autumn is ok, but i didn't like winter at all :(
i dont give my thoughts on singles often, but i really like this song a lot. the production on the vocals is next level, and the instrumental is so crazy but it all works together perfectly. i'm honestly kinda mesmerized by how kesha made this all work. total hit, i really can't stop listening to it.
this zero isn't for reviewbombing or a joke or a meme it's just on the principle that making a """""feminist anthem""""" with a rapist as the main collaborator is so beyond morally bankrupt. sonically its just kinda trashy generic pop. i feel bad for trisha paytas.
stream joyride
PinkPantheress kinda makes music for people whose daily tik tok screentime is like 4 hours minimum, but i really don't even mean that as a bad thing. her songs are all really short and often dont have a lot going on but that's kinda what makes them so magical and consistent hits. she really goes in on the y2k vibe while incorporating pop, r&b, and weirdly some breakcore stuff that i actually really like. the production goes crazy on most of these songs, i really love mosquito, ... read more
i've been exploring japanese shoegaze a lot recently, the genre has really captured me. but nothing i've listened to has managed to find a perfect balance between j-rock and shoegaze, until this album, that is. this LP masterfully blends those two genres with elements of dream pop and noise pop sprinkled in, each song feeling like a completely different ratio of the four. no two songs sound the same, yet none sound out of place or fail to flow well with the rest of the tracks. if i ... read more
somehow, this album feels like a continuation yet complete departure from the rest of aoba's work (that i've listened to, at least). she has the same shimmering guitar, same beautiful voice, and same ability to take me somewhere i never knew music could take me. yet it also feels so much more evolved and nuanced and advanced and thoughtful than her previous work. if anything was missing from aoba's past music, i feel like this album has added it. absolutely brilliant, i ... read more
REALLY really loved most of the tracks a lot. this didnt feel very shoegazy to me, some songs had elements of the genre but it felt primarily indie/alt rock, but none of that is a bad thing at all. i will certainly be coming back to this one and giving it a more detailed review as well whenever i have the time. tokyo and telepathy/overdrive were the standouts to me on this first listen but i could see myself falling in love with any of these tracks on another go-round.
i liked it a lot on first listen, i will definitely listen again and come back with a more meaningful review lol. i wasn't really paying attention when i first listened but i know i liked it.
i can really only describe this album as an achievement honestly. this LP feels like the culmination of a lot of hard work, talent, passion, and genius, and i feel like that is evident just by listening. the guitar is stunning, her voice is gorgeous, her lyricism is surprisingly simple yet impactful, and more than many other albums ive listened to i feel like i was transported to another place. another place physically, mentally, maybe another place in time, i dont know. but it took me ... read more
