Joey Valence & Brae - WASSUP
70

too much 'wassup' i heard for a 3 min track

my bloody valentine - loveless
90

it's like walking home after being caught in a downpour that passed quickly but left behind a trail of emotions

it's like one very weird and incomprehensible dream you had once and you can't forget it for years

it's like living a moment of your life when you've just gone through a phase of failures

⭐ when you sleep
🔻 loomer

Spaze - Limbo
68

it's a good ep
nothing especially crazy except that 'dreams' absolute banger

⭐ dreams
🔻 money

Woodkid - The Golden Age
75

the overall vibe and atmosphere in the first half is incredible, but it kind of falls off due to the inconsistency and number of songs, and unfortunately the only real banger here is 'run boy run'

still very good

⭐ run boy run
🔻 boat song

Woodkid - Run Boy Run
100

this song has been on my heart so much since my days of playing geometry dash, still gives me goosebumps, brilliant

betcover!! - 勇気 [Yuki]
88

they casually released their best album one random wednesday, and i had to listen to it immediately

absolutely brilliant rock/jazzy ballads, the addition of saxophone and the overall mood of this album makes me feel so much better after a hard day, i fucking love this band

⭐ ゴーゴースチーム (3)
🔻 ステイウィズミー (6)

Racing Mount Pleasant - Call It Easy
100

this one is just perfect

10/10

Mogwai - Young Team
78

it's not perfect and isn't quite on par with their 'happy songs for happy people', but it's jam-packed with stunning, textured and dynamic post-rock soundscapes

⭐ summer (priority version)
🔻 with portfolio

Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma
80

after taking some time off from new music, reviews, etc, i'm back and this is the first thing i decided to listen to

this album is a collection of fun and unique beats that transport you to an intergalactic surreal dimension, immersing your body in these glitchy and wonky sounds that you won't be able to leave

absolutely recommended for gaming and programming sessions

⭐ do the astral plane
🔻 arkestry

8/10

Swans - Birthing
90

swans journey, pt.3: birthing

incredible, transcendental, meditative post-rock classic from Swans again, a score lower than 9/10 it's simply impossible for me, when it comes to swans, at least right now

⭐ i am a tower
🔻 the merge

Anekdoten - Gravity
90

(05/22/2025 | re-review & re-rating)

the hidden gem i accidentally found on spotify
their entire discography is the most consistent discogs i've ever seen maybe

'gravity' is one of my favorite art/prog rock albums, consisting of beautiful short vocals transitioning into big instrumental soundscapes that feels like heaven

1-4 track run is absolutely brilliant musical creation

⭐ ricochet
🔻 the games we play
🔼 85 -> 90

Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People
95

fuckass website...
this is one of the greatest and creative post-rock i've ever heard in my life and it's only 80?
beautiful and dreamy soundscapes descending into the most apocalyptic shit in the world

⭐ ratts of the capital
🔻 moses? i amn't
🔽 100 -> 95

Nemo - Casanova
85

this one is epic and fun too

Nemo - Unexplainable
90

damn, this is really good, i didn't expect to like eurovision winner's song

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada E.P.
98

holy fucking shit this is crazy
this is the music I want to be played at the end of the world

my top 3 fav ep ever i think

⭐ moya

The Verve - Urban Hymns
80

it's not perfect, but it's iconic and vibey. even after almost 30 years it's still catchy and timeless britpop

⭐ bitter sweet symphony
🔻 neon wilderness

Heartworms - Glutton for Punishment
80

after listening to the single "jacked" when it came out, i really wanted to listen to the full album but forgot about it when it was released, and now i finally found the right moment to listen to it and it was worth it

very atmospheric and catchy album, even though i'm not a gothic rock/darkwave fan

⭐ jacked
🔻 mad catch

Mark Pritchard - Tall Tales
50

yeah, that's not good
i'm sorry mr. thom, but we don't need this album, i really want it to hook me somehow, but unfortunately it doesn't.

it would make a lot more sense if it was a ~20 minute ep, but not a fucking 1 hour lp with dragged out boring and useless songs. so if you don't want to waste 1 hour and 1 minute, just DO NOT listen to this.

⭐ back in the game
🔻 happy days

On tistan's review of Kim Petras - Detour
"@tistan comparing this to slayyyter doesn't automatically prove a lack of ambition either. genres are built on shared aesthetics. you could apply the exact same logic to synthpop, shoegaze, rage, jersey club, literally anything. similarity alone is not proof of creative bankruptcy. also, burnout doesn't automatically mean the music is objectively getting worse. sometimes it just means you’ve consumed too much of the same style in a short period of time. that’s a listener-side issue as much as an artist's-side one. know the difference"

"@tistan this isn't really criticism, it’s more of an emotional rant. you keep saying "everything sounds the same" "0 ambition" "no evolution" but you never actually explain what you mean by that. which albums are copying each other? what specific trends or production choices are becoming repetitive? what would "evolution" even look like to you? also reducing an entire scene to "slopfest" just bc most releases didn’t personally connect with you says more about your current burnout with the genre than it does about the actual state of the music."

"comparing this to Discovery sets a very specific standard that not every conceptual electronic project is trying to meet, i don't fully agree that music has to clearly 'tell the story' without context for the concept to work. in many genres, especially electronic music, the narrative is often meant to be abstract or supported by external material. most of the arguments feel more like personal preference presented as universal rules for me"
