Fontaines D.C. - Skinty Fia
75

had more fun with this one!
i'm glad they started to get rid of the repetition of the same song over and over again but with different title

⭐ i love you
πŸ”» the couple across the way

Fontaines D.C. - Romance
90

my aoty 2024
wow... this is a fantastic experience re-listening this peak months later

those violins and backing vocals, especially in the song 'in the modern world' are just brilliant music creation, layering and instruments in each song is amazing too

⭐ starburster
πŸ”» horseness is the whatness

Muse - The Resistance
70

continuing my diving into the Muse discog

this is a step down to a pop sound, the vocal in some songs is kinda weird
i don't really get the album idea and lyrics just don't make any sense to me (maybe thats cuz im not native english/french speaker, idk), regardless

it's underrated, not as good as the previous ones

⭐ resistance
πŸ”» guiding light

Muse - Origin of Symmetry
90

second best muse album

they added organ and piano which makes the songs more graceful and its obviously a good choice, songs here are more catchy compared to their previous album

⭐ bliss
πŸ”» screenager

The Murder Capital - When I Have Fears
65

just pretty generic post-punk album, there are some really good highlights. not bad for a debut

⭐ slowdance II
πŸ”» how the streets adore me

2hollis - afraid
60

i miss his style

6/10

Flume - Some Minds
100

don't even know how i, a 12 year old kid, found this banger 6 years ago
but its still slaps after all this time

King Krule - The OOZ
80

very solid, more graceful and polished compared to debut
the only reason i can't call it his best is cuz there are too many songs over here and it gets a bit boring to the end

⭐ dum surfer
πŸ”» a slide in (new drugs)

Squid - Fugue (Bin Song)
90

awesome song
dont get why yall saying it won't fit in o monolith
for me its better than after the flash and fits in album well

9/10

King Krule - 6 Feet Beneath the Moon
90

best king krule and one of the best debut albums of all time
raw, smooth and chill

⭐ a lizard state
πŸ”» cementality

Porridge Radio - Every Bad
90

every good
why tf i rated this 7/10 earlier
every song here is near-perfect except homecoming song

⭐ nephews
πŸ”» homecoming song

Geordie Greep - The New Sound
90

geordie greep solo album is a huge improvement after black midi, and thats all i'm gonna say

⭐ holy, holy
πŸ”» bongo season

English Teacher - This Could Be Texas
90

oh god, one of the best albums of 2024 so far
the only problem is that there are too many filler songs

⭐ not everybody gets to go to space
πŸ”» you blister my paint

betcover!! - 卡 [Tamago]
80

a more jazzy, artsy and funky than their previous album
don't think it's better but on the same level

that riff in ばらばら is so damn beautiful

⭐ ばらばら
πŸ”» ζ„›δΊΊ

8/10

betcover!! - ζ™‚ι–“ [Jikan]
80

underrated japanese masterpiece
such a unique and creative thing

⭐ piano
πŸ”» あいどる

8/10

black midi - Schlagenheim
88

icon of experimental math art avant-garde windmill rock.

⭐ 10/10
πŸ”» years ago

black midi - Cavalcade
70

i'm definitely not a fan of this
it's good but still forgettable and the worst in the their discog

⭐ slow
πŸ”» marlene dietrich

7/10

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!
100

absolutely beautiful masterpiece
everything about this album is perfect - cover, title, band name, song titles, song chapters names, EVERYTHING

⭐ like antennas to heaven...
πŸ”» static

King Krule - Man Alive!
75

only thing i dont like is that there is a lot of kinda useless songs, just drop some and its gonna be 8+/10

⭐ stoned again
πŸ”» the dream

black midi - Hellfire
90

huge progression from Cavalcade, more intense, more polished and just what black midi is

⭐ welcome to hell
πŸ”» half time

"@tistan comparing this to slayyyter doesn't automatically prove a lack of ambition either. genres are built on shared aesthetics. you could apply the exact same logic to synthpop, shoegaze, rage, jersey club, literally anything. similarity alone is not proof of creative bankruptcy. also, burnout doesn't automatically mean the music is objectively getting worse. sometimes it just means you’ve consumed too much of the same style in a short period of time. that’s a listener-side issue as much as an artist's-side one. know the difference"

"@tistan this isn't really criticism, it’s more of an emotional rant. you keep saying "everything sounds the same" "0 ambition" "no evolution" but you never actually explain what you mean by that. which albums are copying each other? what specific trends or production choices are becoming repetitive? what would "evolution" even look like to you? also reducing an entire scene to "slopfest" just bc most releases didn’t personally connect with you says more about your current burnout with the genre than it does about the actual state of the music."

"comparing this to Discovery sets a very specific standard that not every conceptual electronic project is trying to meet, i don't fully agree that music has to clearly 'tell the story' without context for the concept to work. in many genres, especially electronic music, the narrative is often meant to be abstract or supported by external material. most of the arguments feel more like personal preference presented as universal rules for me"
