interesting ep thats all im gonna say
fun fact: spotify is playing smth from this ep way too often when im playing my playlist in shuffle idrk why
🔻 new life
⭐ fits
this album has been in my regular rotation for almost three years now... i've tried to write a good review more than three times, but each time i was dissatisfied with the result.
'Turn on the Bright Lights' — is a classic of post-punk revival, the embodiment of experimental, atmospheric and deeply emotional post-punk, combining elements of dream pop, gothic rock and art rock to create absolutely stunning textures and a musical experience.
⭐ obstacle 1
🔻 hands away
feels more like a mixtape rather than an lp
some songs just dont fit here or very tightened
but its still awesome cuz squid can't make a bad album
⭐ narrator
🔻 resolution square
there isn't a single weak spot; every track here is just insane, the production is incredible. i can't even imagine how they created a song like 'thunder', its just incredible
⭐ thunder
not a huge improvement but this feels more catchy and engaging to listen from their previous album
⭐ water in the well
🔻 great dog
7.5/10
pretty good post punk
nothing really interesting on here but i enjoyed
⭐ tasteless
🔻 donk
a sound for attracting my ears
this album can be better without fillers like 'waving a white flag' or 'free in the knowledge' don't get me wrong they're good but just don't fit on here
⭐ thin thing
🔻 free in the knowledge
8.5/10
unfortunately too many forgettable filler songs, but there are a few good ones that i really liked, like 'martini love'. production is not good either sometimes, the vocals are too quiet and the instrumentals are too loud. recommended if you want to complete the drop nineteens discography, cuz there's nothing special about this, unfortunately...
⭐ martini love
🔻 rot winter
absolutely random but entertaining mix of art rock, synths and post-punk
forgettable sometimes but still pretty decent.
⭐ 2004
🔻 it goes on forever
