Obviously, I'm glad this record exists, but we can't deny: it's carried by singles. There are some classics on here, from Maybelline to Johnny B. Goode, but there's also some really rough (and at times racist even) tracks. I think the good outweighs the bad, as almost every track has a good deal of musical merit. Chuck was definitely a very talented artist, but there's much better out there. Not just in the musical world, but even this era. Still pretty good and fun ... read more

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. 2021 Yevi was going through it, just graduated, lost a three year relationship, and at one point I heard "Our Song" listening on Spotify. Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
100

What's Going On is one of, if not the, greatest concept album of all time and is extremely important to musical history. Telling the story of a Vietnam veteran returning home after battle, the late and great Marvin Gaye paints an absolutely gorgeous tale. It's heartbreaking, emotionally impacting, and also an incredibly uplifting tale. Marvin Gaye was, and will always be, one in a million.

MUSICAL BIRTHDAYS: May 20th, 1946-

Cher is truly a voice like no other in music, and while nothing on this album quite lives up to the classic Believe, this record is a pretty fun and funky listen from front to back. Nice disco and house influences, and a front to back jam.

Car Seat Headrest - Teens of Denial

Teens of Denial, while maybe not being objectively Car Seat Headrest's best album, is always going to be my favorite. It's anxious, gritty, emotional indie rock that has aged beautifully and will keep doing so. The mixture of lofi and hardcore elements is a true testament to how incredibly dynamic this band is. Legendary stuff.
