In the end, Automatic Midnight makes you want to drive a littler faster down a potholed road, turn the stereo up a notch higher than usual, and nod minutely at anyone annoyed by your raucous passing.

The Drive Like Jehu folks continue to make good. God damn I love the sound of this thing. This is what the punkers who said fuck all the mainstream stuff were listening to in 2000.

This is my first listen to any of John and Rick beyond their Yank Crime album as Drive Like Jehu. And because of the clear sonic similarly to that project, it's somewhat difficult to judge Automatic Midnight on its own. However, Hot Snakes is equally different to Jehu here.
