Sugababes should really cheer up ... because One Touch is a fantastic album that encapsulates the sound of young America with enough style, attitude and originality to mesmerise us all. The kids are all right.
It's about time a half-decent pure-pop album got released, and over a dozen songs that jump playfully between upbeat R&B, poppy soul and groove-laden ballads, these three London schoolgirls have achieved it.
As alarmingly undeveloped LPs go, One Touch is everything a post-Spice Girls teen pop debut should be -- discreet, adolescent, and as unstudied as a late-night phone call about boys.
More interesting than one might think based on a first look, and an incredibly underlooked 2000s girl group gem.
The production is what really sticks out about this album - and despite being a solid and slightly underlooked album, this isn't without its flaws, and it lacks a real flare that can keep a listener hooked for the whole album. This isn't one of those albums that should really be listened to from front to back - unless you really enjoy the Sugababes. The vocals are very ... read more

It's crazy to think that they were only teenagers when this came out. Sure, it might be pop music but it had a depth and edge to it that made the Sugababes instantly stand out, they definitely sound very british but were universal enough. The production is the real standout here (it sounds current of its time but it also sounds current) that is even more enhanced by their lovely voices.
Highlights: Overload, One Foot In and Soul Sound.
