At times, Human gives off an air of being the soundtrack to a musical—perhaps the musical of dodie's life. It seems intensely personal.

God Is in the TV

Dodie‘s Human begins with merely the vocal harmony of ‘Arms Unfolding‘ and calls to mind both The Staves and Simon and Garfunkel, though the rest of proceedings are made up of enjoyable, slightly off kilter pop.

The Observer
These seven songs are all inoffensive playlist folk-pop, foregrounding personality over polish, but any sense of intrigue is confined to the lyrics.

Doesn't appeal to me at all, but it's better than The Chainsmokers

If I’m Being Honest (buh-dum tss) with myself, I love dodie’s videos! I would always watch a video or listen to a song she wrote when I’m feeling down. That’s why “Human” made me smile. Her voice is angelic and her lyrics always resonate with me. It’s nothing special but it works well enough and I would be happy to listen to it again.

This EP comes in strong during the last 3 songs on it. If I'm Being Honest is definitely a great song.

I fear I'm all the streams for She because it is one of the most gorgeous songs Dodie has ever written. I love her emotion and tone throughout the piece. She is so soft-spoken and when she does get a bit faster/confident with more stride in Monster, it still works and sticks to a theme within her writing and attitude towards the meaning behind the song. She is truly a great artist that I think more people should listen to for more toned down and relaxing sad beats.

"she" is a classic first of all. this ep definitely sends me into a different time of my life, very much a pillar of the shy cutesy indie pop scene. the minimal strings and heavy emphasis on her voice in the mixing make a very soft and intimate vibe. it doesnt do anything crazy but its great for what it is.

fav song: burned out (went triple platinum in my house in 2019)
fav moment: "it slips through her cracks, so i start to choke"
