Oh word I liked this a lot better than the follow up! Moderat’s self titled debut album showcases some really nice Future Garage material. Apparat and Modeselektor come and bring on some top notch production as Moderat. The completely instrumental tracks were some of my favorites, the tracks that have Apparat’s vocals are nice as well. all time classic and honestly a whole new era for me. one of those albums i genuinely keep returning to without getting tired of it. the attention to detail is absurd - tiny sounds everywhere, yet nothing feels overcrowded. beautiful balance of cold electronics and human emotion.
"A New Error" is easily one of the best electronic feasts for the ears. The whole album just for this one song could be a 10/10, however, the rest of the album feels a bit like a tug-of-war between Apparat’s atmospheric polish and Modeselektor’s grittier instincts - which isn't always terrible.
