Clash
‘III’ is a triumph that takes pop and redefines it, and may come to be seen as a watershed moment for the group as they hit full stride.
80
AllMusic

III experiments more, sacrificing none of its attractiveness while venturing into skittish micro-trap, exotic ethno-techno, and something akin to Adele singing William S. Burroughs lyrics over classic glitch.

80
The Skinny

III is a record for getting lost in your thoughts, rather than losing your mind on the floor.

80
Exclaim!

Their latest offering confirms the act have found footing with their sound, as III revels in minimal electro glitch while an orchestral current weaves beautifully throughout, Ring's vocals lending soulful, poignant reflection not often found in contemporary electronic music.

71
Pitchfork

It's apparent from III’s air of ease and consistency of style that they've finally gelled around one vision.

70
PopMatters

Regardless of how one feels about III ... one fact remains: Moderat is making music that’s inspired by all forms of electronic music, putting them in a category all their own.

70
Resident Advisor

Heard in one go, with all those swelling choruses and sweeping melodies, III can feel awfully bombastic. The best moments come when Moderat keeps things simple.

70
Loud and Quiet

An album of highlights, and no shortage of high-gloss production polish, ‘III’ isn’t Moderat’s magic number but after strained beginnings; it’s still a pretty special one.

Its the shortest and sweetest of the Moderat entries. Its a shame this project is over, but its cause for celebration that they deployed their best crop of songs on the way out.

Moderat took a bit more pop-friendly approach on this album which is why its the weakest album out of their discographie for me. Its still a 94 cause the tracks on here are bangers after all. Apparat killing it with the vocals and the production sounds clean and creative.

Honestly I love how glitchy and beautiful this is. When all of the elements build, you end up with something that's so chaotic, yet absolutely gorgeous at the same time. The production is incredible, the vocals are light yet cut through the chaos incredibly well. The pacing is great. It's just bloody lovely.
