Distorted Sound

Angel is a particularly ambitious offering, venturing off into new territories whilst also maintaining their signature grit and creative expertise. Some may lament the departure from their anthemic era ... as the band further embrace the heavier side of their arsenal but there is still a broad scale of moods and tones at play to keep you entertained.

Kerrang!
German metalcore underdogs Unprocessed throw every dart from their armoury at sixth album – and most of them stick.

Its finest moments suggest that the descendants of djent's first wave are still finding new ways to push the whole movement forward, but on occasion, Unprocessed are trying too hard to have their prog metal cake and eat it too.

AN UNEXPECTED SURPRISE

I have to admit that I didn't understand anything about this album, not even the cover, which, without reading glasses, I mistook for an X-ray of a human knee... don't believe me?
Find one of your grandmother's and you'll see I'm right!

But that's not the point.
The fact is that I had also listened poorly to the singles and was therefore expecting a mediocre album, almost radio-friendly, due to a strange and mistaken prejudice I had created ... read more

One of my favorite Metal albums of the year and easily Unprocessed's best work ever!

I was already quite into Unprocessed's sound up until this point. I enjoyed their previous project, and I always liked their signature sound with the very peculiar-sounding guitar and bass tones that they utilize. Whether it's their more melodic clean guitar work, reminiscent of Polyphia (but so much better), and then the heavier, more Djenty guitar work, which is honestly just really unique. ... read more

Came in prepared to hate it because most Djent is the exact same 2 songs copied over and over again, but idk maybe it was the cleans, maybe it was the more melodic riffs, maybe some of the sound effects, God knows what, but I ended up finding this quite the charming release. Still feel like the shallowness of Djent haunts this project here and there, but it is pretty tame. Kind of falls apart in the second half though, much better on the first.

It’s just a bit too proggy for me.
Insanely talented band, but just lost me.

When this album started I thought it would be one of those technically impressive djent records which are an enjoyable enough first listen, but you rarely return to, if it all, much like a Iñárritu film. However as the album progressed this assumption was immediately shattered by Beyond Heaven's Gate, Sacrifice Me, and Snowlover, all of which I wanted to hear again immediately. While it has moments of heaviness with delightfully absurd guitar tones that sound like ... read more
