Why does the cover look like Warning by Green Day?

Sum 41 decide to do the Green Day thing. Results are mixed and marred by bad album-wide choices.
American Idiot has sort of aged poorly in the music critic scene, but back when it came out it was the shit to a rarely seen level. Similar thater-y records blew up everywhere, from Fall Out Boy to of course MCR and there's more than one reason alternative culture's music was called "the scene". I've got some big nostalgic feelings for the earlier discography, but this thing sounds like American Idiot and the s/t Blink record smushed together. Didn't do a lot for me then and does even less on the revisit.
The Worse American Idiot
If American Idiot was the worse Black Parade, then here you have this.
Sum 41 lost their vital member Brownsound on lead guitar, losing their signaturely unique metalcore pop-punk sound they've been brewing since Half Hour. So they try to make post-2004 Green Day pop rock which is unimaginative, lazy, and too polished.
