Front to back, Immersion is pretty sturdy. But it also belies its title by not really plunging any real depths.

Pendulum's third album, Immersion, is something of a hybrid of the group's first two albums, reverting back to the debut's foundation in drum 'n' bass while also referencing the widened stylistic scope of 2008's In Silico.

There are still a little too many US FM radio pop-metal vocals, but happily there’s also plenty of fierce, melody-laced drum & bass action that will please festivals and dancefloors the world over.

Some of leader Rob Swire's vocals are flatter than a Dutch cycle ride and the sheer relentlessness of it all is sometimes self-defeating but the world is a more exciting place with Pendulum in it.

The default setting is furious but the outcome is nonetheless orderly. They rarely surprise.

It’d be great to go mental to in a field at 4am. It’s just that like a torn tent or an empty gas canister, you’d leave it there without further thought at the end of the weekend.

It's robotically humourless; imagine C3PO discovering ecstasy and synths and you're there.

Deleted my review because I realized that Immersion may just be one of the best records I’ve heard in my entire life. The ambiance of being in an adventure while listening, the immaculate production, the perfectly written songs, the transitions; you do feel like the album cover, sinking in the sea, but not being scared, instead being dragged down to a refreshing and revitaliting listen.

Pendulum ngl i didnt heard anything about it when it came out, so yeah my EDM time wasnt until some years after, so to be electro music from 2010 is still works till this day maybe i wasnt at the time but this album is genually really decent by his own, maybe it tries to be a memorable album but fails sometimes, sometimes feels like this album is a mix between Skrillex, Disco Influences and My Chemical Romance and yet still ... read more
