Overall, it's no surprise that there aren't many surprises on Human, just solid, inoffensive pop nuggets that soothe the soul and offer solace without challenging listeners with more than what real life throws at them each day.
Human is a good album. It is cohesive and represents an interesting concept—a return to roots while still being musically progressive. Coming home while still moving on. And it is a concept that is executed quite well.
What do you even say about OneRepublic? They’re a big band that manages to shoot out hits, yet they don’t even feel like a part of the conversation. OneRepublic just kind of exists. I have respect for Ryan Tedder’s work as a songwriter and producer, he’s produced a good amount of things that I love, but he’s always been a mixed bag, even more so with his OneRepublic discography. Until “Human”, however, because this is pretty consistently awful.

This was honestly even worse than what I was expecting it to be, I was just kinda expecting mediocre forgettable pop rock album, not motherfucking JORDI 2!!!!!!
I think what really pisses me off is that the 2 of the best songs on here (“Wild Life” and “Ships + Tides”) are both on the deluxe edition of the album. WHY IN THE FUCK ARE 2 OF THE BEST TRACKS ON THE ALBUM ON THE DELUXE AND EVERY OTHER SHITTY SONG IS ON HERE!?!? I’m not exaggerating, this is literally ... read more
Honestly, seems like OneRepublic took some songs with serious potential and mushed them in with tracks that no one is going to like. Someday is a great song, but putting it in an album with this other stuff is not exactly going to help its popularity. Overall it has some good songs, but the overall inconsistency of the music quality is a dealbreaker on this album.
The whole album is listenable. OneRepublic’s music and melody are always catchy. Ryan’s voice is always on point. Someday is my most fav.
