i find it kind of cool how grunge sort of killed shoegaze yet Swervedriver manages to mix the two genres in a refreshing way.
Raise is the debut album from Swervedriver, one of the main bands of the shoegaze movement back when it started to get more notoriety. Although this genre had an already established sound back when this album got released, Swervedriver stands out as one of the "heavier" acts of the genre, balancing between grunge, psychedelic rock, plain alt rock and even post-hardcore at times, distancing themselves from the rest of the bands of that era.
