With each new release, Wilderun becomes more characteristic and commendable, carving out their own vital, remarkable, and invigorating place within their stylistic landscape. Epigone is no exception.
Via a somewhat hazy and convoluted conceptual thread that deigns to unpick the emotional maze of creativity itself, this is another grand leap into hitherto untouched musical and emotional depths.
Epigone continues to build on the impressive foundations laid down by Veil Of Imagination and broadens their experimental horizons with a wealth of vivid textures and meticulously crafted intricacies that take an amazing amount of talent and precision to coordinate.

O shit, Opeth 2 just dropped!!
And yea, they are trying too hard to sound epic, but shit's still good enough.

Wilderun’s album before this, Veil of Imagination, has quickly become one of my favorite to listen to recently, so I definitely have high hopes for this record, and am really hoping for new and good Wilderun music to listen to. With this album, Wilderun definitely keep the epic nature of their sound with them, but integrate a bit more folk elements into their sound compared to the last album. Whereas Veil of Imagination was more of a mighty battle against a dragon, this album would be the ... read more
I was expecting this album to follow the direction of Veil of Imagination, but it’s actually quite different in both songwriting and sound — how unprog of me.
I’ll admit, I was a bit worried during the first two songs; they felt pretty dull. Thankfully, things pick up massively with Passenger and Identifier, which are both brilliantly written and full of dynamics.
The album as a whole demands a lot from the listener. There’s so much to unpack, and most songs — ... read more
A great album with great songs, not all of them are really good, but overall, it's totally enjoyable.
