The Guardian
The pair play their guitars and keyboards with the precision of diamond cutters, but their pristine sound never lacks warmth, largely thanks to the sumptuous vocal harmonies.

Pinback-- sprung from the loins of San Diego's Three Mile Pilot-- makes music of a howlingly bittersweet variety that is at once joyful and melancholy.

The album is a bit of a one-trick-pony, with little to distinguish texturally between one song and the next, but what a nice little trick it is.

Hazy and intimate, the undulating single note lines and hushed vocals make for a lowkey but rather enthralling listen, certainly one ahead of its time too, predating a lot of the slowcore/indie slop in the decades to come but with so much more heart than any of it, despite being so mellow.

some of the piano-based songs i'm neutral towards, but the laid-back yet melancholic atmosphere of it all still got to me. music of the 90s you will always be cherished.
