I was very blown away at how innovative both the production and compositions were on this record.
Across the barely 4 minutes of runtime "Hurley" has one of the most peculiar chord progressions I think I´ve ever on a slowcore record. It is so confusing to find the core mood of this song within the first 1 1/2 minutes, but I think that is also the intriguing bit about this song.

With Pinback lies some of the most overlooked indie rock of the 2000s. I think their album “Summer in Abbadon” is pretty close to a masterpiece, so I wanted to go and relisten to the rest of their discography to talk about them a little more and hopefully encourage more people to give them a listen. Surprised there aren't more Pinback listeners on this site. If you like Built to Spill, I would check out this band. Very underrated album.
Hazy and intimate, the undulating single note lines and hushed vocals make for a lowkey but rather enthralling listen, certainly one ahead of its time too, predating a lot of the slowcore/indie slop in the decades to come but with so much more heart than any of it, despite being so mellow.
some of the piano-based songs i'm neutral towards, but the laid-back yet melancholic atmosphere of it all still got to me. music of the 90s you will always be cherished.
